I use a spoon dipped in peanut butter ... and yes I know it isn't the healthiest treat out there. She gets a quick swipe off of it. You can easily control how much she gets per swipe by the amount that you place on the spoon.

My Grey does it too. If the vet doesn't see anything wrong then I wouldn't worry about it. From Birds For Dummies page 123; "One final species-specific oddity -- head shaking in African Greys: Brian has looked down the ears of lots of African Greys whose owners were certain something was hiding inside, because of all the head-shaking. He hasn't found anything -- yet."<br><br>Post edited by: Kibibi, at: 2007/11/22 21:59

The high salt content was the last thing on Klaus' mind :woohoo:

I use a shower perch that has suction cups on it to hold it to the shower wall. It took Kibibi several years (3-4) before she began to actually enjoy the shower. I started by placing the perch in the shower but away from the water stream. I gradually moved the shower perch closer to the water and allowed her to get splashed more and more. In the beginning, she didn't enjoy it at all! Now she actually bobs her head up and down to let me know that she wants to get wet. I still don't put her under the full force of the shower. I just use my hand to deflect the shower stream toward her which sprays a light mist onto her. She seems to enjoy it now but it took a lot of patience.

Here's a starting point for your research. http://www.infosuperflyway.com/articles/woods.php But keep in mind that this doesn't consider any wax or cleaning materials that my be used on the wood floor.

Great pic Is that from the Birdman?

I have a seed catcher on Kibibi's cage but like judygram says, most of Kibibi's food gets flung far and wide. I have to clean food off of walls at least 10 feet away from her cage. I'm not sure a seed catcher does me much good

Hi Caroline and Charlie Do you have any pictures of Charlie? I bet he's adorable.

Heard such great things about this forum

Hello and welcome. Wow, it sounds like you have your hands full -
Hello Jody and welcome. That was a great introduction and the pic was very cute.

Does anyone use Grepefruit Seed Extract? Here's a link describing it. http://www.herbalremedies.com/gseliqcon2oz.html That is what my breeder recommended years ago when I first purchased my Grey. I like Joe's blanching method; I think I'll try it.

One technique to try is to trick him into getting in the cage (using treats, toys,....) and then sometimes let him back out as soon as you get him in, sometimes don't even shut the cage after you get him in, and sometimes shut the door for the evening. That way he doesn't associate being closed up for a long time when he gets in. But the long term solution is to train him to "Step Up". Mastering the "Step up" is very important. It takes a lot of work to master it but once it is learned, it becomes second nature to them. It almost becomes a reflex. Have you considered clicker training?

Hello, great pictures. Great name (Kali) too! Kibibi is also Swahili, it means Female parrot among other meanings (like princess).

Hello and welcome NerfGunWarHero (cool name!) It's awesome that you're doing some research before getting a Grey.

I've never heard of a Grey liking only kids or only adults before. I think it's more of a personality issue. They appear to be just like people because they select who they like and who they don't like. Maybe your Grey just really likes your daughter.

Hello Elaine.

My CAG growled on occasion when I first got her too. She still does it when some strangers get too close to her or if she sees something odd in her surroundings that she doesn't recognize or feel comfortable with. =============================== Visit Kibibi's InfoSuperFlyway http://www.infosuperflyway.com ===============================

I just converted a dog (or cat?) carrier. It had plastic sides with small holes for ventilation and a cage style front door. I added a wooden rod inside of it as a perch using two screws through the plastic sides into the ends of the wooden rod. =============================== Visit Kibibi's InfoSuperFlyway http://www.infosuperflyway.com ===============================

My CAG was just beginning to talk when I first got her. She was about 1 year old then and now she's almost 8 years old and talks a lot. If anyone's interested, there are some audio clips on her "Fly-Pod" page. http://www.infosuperflyway.com/sounds.php

Hello everyone. I recently created a graphical Lost and Found page on my website that I think everyone will like. Hopefully nobody will need to use it but just in case ...... it lets you quickly view a map of your state, city or even neighborhood to see if any birds have been lost or found in your area! And I promise it's different than all other lost and found list sites. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think. http://www.InfoSuperFlyway.com/articles/lostparrot.php'>http://www.infosuperflyway.com/articles/lostparrot.php =============================== Visit Kibibi's InfoSuperFlyway Web Site http://www.InfoSuperFlyway.com ===============================<br><br>Post edited by: Talon, at: 2007/11/14 04:09

Hello everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm the proud owner of one CAG named Kibibi. Most of you have already visited her web site. For those of you that haven't, stop by and take a look. Hopefully you'll find something of interest. ======================================== Visit Kibibi's InfoSuperFlyway Web Site http://www.InfoSuperFlyway.com ========================================<br><br>Post edited by: Kibibi, at: 2007/11/14 15:22
