Every other feather? Interesting... that sounds dangerous. It seems like there isn't any protection for the unclipped feathers sticking out like sore thumbs Does anyone else have a wing clip like that? Also was she allowed to fledge before her first clip? She may have not developed the necessary flight muscles if not.

One of Kibibi's favorite places to perch is on the edge of a stainless steel food bowl holder. It's a very sharp/fine edge and looks very uncomfortable but that is where she likes to perch.

Very cute pic. I wonder if it has to do with them peeking out of their nest as babies? They nest in tree holes in the wild don't they? That would also explain why they don't "poop" inside their "fort" Of course this doesn't explain the behavior of those raised in captivity but it may be an instinctual thing.

My female Grey is a decent talker. You can hear some of her recordings on my website. http://www.infosuperflyway.com/sounds.php Though my mostly mimics female voices, they can mimic male and female and anything else for that matter.

Bobbing the tail is often a sign of difficulty breathing. If this is happening even when it should be relaxed then it could be serious but it if happens briefly after exertion (flying, flapping, etc) then it may not be anything. It sounds like a vet check-up might be a good idea.

The feathers are most likely part of the normal molting and/or preening process. Are they the very small, fluffy, down feathers? Small down feathers all over the place is typical of a normal preening Grey. Banana Peel? I'd just give her the banana and not the peel. The general rule is that if you wouldn't eat it then you probably shouldn't give it to them. "Growling" is a sign that they are afraid. Keep strangers a safe distance from her cage to keep her from getting stressed. Everyone wants to get as close as possible to get a better look but you'll be able to tell at what distance your Grey is comfortable at. With time, it will get more accustomed to the "strangers". No you're not being neurotic All of your questions are very good and show that you are a thoughtful caregiver. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Hello and welcome The best advice for any new Grey owner is to take everything very slow. Patience is essential with everything and especially during the early stages of building a trusting relationship.

Kibibi sleeps in two places in her cage. One spot is on the highest perch (actually on top of a hanging toy) and strangely enough the other spot is the lowest perch in the cage. I don't know how or why she picks which one on what night :blink:

Along with frequently rotating new toys in and out of the cage, I also occasionally move stuff around but some things always remain in the same spot. For example, Kibibi likes to sleep on top of a toy in the top corner of her cage. So I leave that toy in the cage and in the same spot all the time.

My CAG really likes fresh water. She gets a drink every time I change the water bowl but I rarely see her drink otherwise.
