For now I only let Izzie on my shoulder while I am watching TV, talking on the phone or just sitting on the couch. Since her balance is not perfect, I try not to walk with her and I try to sit somewhere she wouldn't get hurt if she decides to jump. She comes up with some funny noises. It's very cool. And next week we are going to visit my parents in Tampa. It's only 3.5 hours drive, but still I hope she will take it well.

Same here! I have my nose pierces, so I have to remove my earring every time I take Izzie on the couch with me She does not like my ears as much as my mouth due to long hair, I guess. It is opposite with my husband, she is all over his ears

Oh now, she is doing it really nicely. She didn't bite me yet since the first day, she is good bird

Our baby is 5 months old today!! She been with us for almost 3 weeks now! I need some advice again. I let Izzie sit on my shoulder only when I am sitting. Now, for some reason, she wants to kiss/bite my lips, nose, ear when she is on my shoulder. Is it a sign she likes me or what is that?

Izzie is going to be 5 months old this Friday, she does not speak, but she does make different noises. They are sooo cool but little weird. Could it be possible that when she lived at the breeder's place next to Macaws she picked up their noises?? Because in the mornings she does sound like a Macaw B) And I don't expect her to speak, but it will be very nice.

I called some numbers to receive free samples since I am not sure what Izzie would like and today I received Lafeber samples and Izzie seems to like the nutriberries Thanks for the phone numbers!!

We don't have kids now, but we are planning to have kids in a future. How should children and bird be introduced?
-
I was thinking maybe I have to take the stand away from her big cage? Do younger birds tend to get used to new stuff easier or age makes no difference?
-
I've purchased a little portable play stand for Izzie (since we will be traveling to my parents' house often) and I've got it last nigh. But it seems she is scared of it and she would not step up on it and sit there. How can I train my bid to accept her new stand?
-
Thanks for sharing it with me. Now I feel better since it's not only my bird who likes to take a nap

I am so sorry that Harley did not make it The news made my heart sink; I could only imagine what you had to go through. I am so so sorry

Ok. I guess Izzie does the same thing. Thanks!

It does not look like a regular yawning... She opens her mouths, tries to open it very wide. I don't know...maybe I am being paranoid. B)

Some more pictures of us. (Kiev, Ukraine - July 2007)

The baby is so cute! I am in love with all Greys! Congratulations!!

Hi! I just wanted to share a picture of Izzie as she plays. I had to take away the pencil so she would not get hurt. But this picture is one of my favorites as of right now.

I have a question regarding yawning. My baby does yawn before she goes to bed. Yesterday and today I've notices she opens her mouth as she want to yawn, but she keeps it open for a second and I am not sure if she needs more air or what is it about. She does it during the day, way before bed time. What could it be??

I voted too, but it was hard. All of the edible people look very tasty! B)

I ordered some free samples (thanks to the forum! where I've got all the phone numbers). When it comes I will let Izzie try all of them, maybe she will pick something. I try to reduce the amount of seed mix, but she seem to like it. I guess I need to cut it down slowly B)
-
Thanks! I will try to monitor Izzie's weight and eating behavior.
-
The problem with Izzie is that she LOVES seed mix (especially seeds, she liked to crack them) and she avoids pellets. She does eat it but I am not really sure if she is getting enough.
-
I was actually looking for a different answer; I am more concern with a proportion. As of right now I know what to feed (veggies, fruits, pellets...) and what is a no-no. I was wondering if someone could provide me with some kind of proportion between seed mix, pellets, fruits and veggies.
-
I was reading about CAG’s diet and I am confused now. Are seeds ok? Izzie eats some pellets (for now I am feeding her with Pretty Bird… Our vet gave us a sample of Harrison’s but she didn’t like it). She also gets veggies (carrot, cucumber, tomatoes, sweet potato etc) and fruits (grapes, apples, some oranges). She likes fruits and veggies which do not get on her beak (she hates bananas and other “soft” food). She also gets some seeds mix that she loves! So, my question is what is the proportion of food? How much veggies, fruits, seeds mix and pellets should be given a day? I will really appreciate any suggestions since I am new to Grey’s world and I really-really want my baby to get the best!

Since I do not work as of right now, Izzie spends most of the time out of her cage to play on the top of the cage, to eat and to socialize with me. Now I am concern, if I will start at a new job, will it be stressful for her to stay in the cage longer while I am at work?

Today Izzie made some new noises. It was very cool and unexpected! She would step up and sit at my arm longer than before. She started to play with more toys. She still does not drink a lot. Also, I've notices she takes naps during the day. Is it normal? I thought maybe she is not getting enough sleep during the night? Or since she is still a baby she needs some extra minutes of nap time during the busy day?
