  1. I have a slightly irritating issue with my cage. I am hoping for suggestions on getting around the issue. I have a 36 X 28 X 70 cage with a play area on the top but no place to really hang toys from the top. I am only able to attach the toys to the sides because the top is a side out tray. Does any one else have this type of cage? I worry that hanging them only from the side is not going to be stimulating enough for them. Any suggestions are appreciated.
  2. Ok It is 11 pm and I was wondering if anyone could make the time move a little faster so that I can go and get our new baby sooner. I am not sure that I am going to be able to sleep tonight. I am much too excited, in fact, I cleaned the cage again and the baby hasn't even come home yet!
  3. Thank you, I am very excited if I could only make the days move faster. I have the cage all set, cleaned, and sterilized (with natural avian safe products) and now it is just waiting. This breeder has 4-5 Congo and I believe 2-3 Timneh. I plan on letting the bird sort of pick me, so that I can ensure that he/she will be comfortable with my family I have been reading everything I can get me hands on and I have talked directly with my avian vet for his advice, so that we can have a happy and healthy bird. I really appreciate all of the feedback and this is a wonderful site and I am really appreciating all of the information that is available on this site.
  4. This is awsome! Thank you very much for posting this.
  5. :woohoo: Hello, I am a stay at home Mom who has had several birds since I have been a young girl. I am starting on my very first endeavor in embracing an African Grey into my home. I have had other parrots but this breed has been my most coveted of all and I am finally in an excellent position to commit the time and tlc. I am very excited because I have an appointment on Friday with a private breeder on Friday to visit some pretty little grey babies. Any suggestions on selecting the right baby, please feel free to let me know.
  6. Thank you so much. I plan on going to get that book this evening. I really appreciate the cat information because I definately want to protect my soon to welcome home new baby bird.
  7. I have to tell you that I am sooooo happy that I found this site. I have been considering an African Grey and am trying to prepare myself to be the best parent possible. I have several bird books (though focased on several types of birds) and I have a wonderful vet that is a great resource but he has Amazons and I have read that African Greys are more sensitive. So I think any advice that can be given from those who have direct experience is much appreciated. Can anyone suggest any books that really helped them? I did have an African Red Belly that passed away a year ago (old age per the vet)and I have finally decided that it is time to invite another wonderful bird into our home. My biggest concern is my children's cat, any tips for acclimating them is very much appreciated.
