  1. I would like to thank everyone for their comments, support and encouragement, I really appreciate it! I'm still struggling with the pellet diet but I keep giving them a lot of fruits and veggies in the morning to keep away from the seeds but hopefully in a couple of days I'll see at least one of them trying the pellet! My Timneh still don't like eye contact so I am trying to avoid it, but he is no longer yelling or open his mouth whenever he sees my hands in the cage, he calmed down a bit, I just hope he feels safe soon. >> MakenasDad: Thank you for your comment. The Vet said no lice was found but he sprayed them just in case and gave me a bottle to spray inside the cages after cleaning to keep any parasites away, there was no meds giving yet, but I am not sure, because not all of the results are ready yet, some been sent to South Africa so we are waiting but for now he told me they do not carry any diseases so far, so lets hope it's ok.
  2. Hi Judo! Thank you! I am glad you liked my pictures! I am sure Lola going to have fun with your other pets, I can't wait to see her pictures when you get her - Jujube
  3. I took my Timneh and Congo to the vet yesterday as I was noticing a strange way of breathing coming from my Timneh Sukar, plus I found a bird lice on my hand I made an appointment and went the next day, the vet was very helpful, he gave me lots of tips on my baby Congo and he checked Sukar (TAG) he said there is nothing with his breathing, but he said his feather colors are strange it is not a timneh colors, he thought he was probably washed with something (my timneh was a rescue from a poor and abusing pet shop)some of his feather was damaged, and he had a skin disease that was treated with human treatment (his chest feather was so greasy) he did few tests and x-ray to check him and he weighted him and he was just 224g, he was so underweight poor thing, I hope he will get better soon, I went back home and cleaned all cages, soaked the toys in water and separated my cockatoo from them (poor Vanessa she was so excited about the new arrivals but she cannot see them until 40 days passes) . The Vet gave me Harrisons High Potency Course pellet and told me how to give it to them, though the first day no one was interested in it not even my cockatoo, but the best thing was when I gave the fruits they tried it, the greys don't usually like to try food specially the older one (timneh) but today I saw him eating which made me really happy! I hope he gain back the weight and he become healthier, I am trying all my best to give him a better place. Oh and the vet bill was a killer =_= ..it was 820$ for both birds. - Jujube
  4. Hi Cyard, I hope you find the baby you are looking for! I've got a baby grey too, it is my first time to deal with babies and they are a lot of work! But I am sure you will be a great mom! If you want the truth I've never thought that you can own a 2 months old baby or younger until a month ago as I thought it was illegal in Norway. My previous grey was a 8 months old wild caught, it took me a year or so until he learned talking and he came along very well. - Jujube<br><br>Post edited by: jujubechan, at: 2007/10/17 15:37
  5. My previous grey lived with two of my cockatoo but he was never shy at all, he would talk and chat all day long and sometime I think he can read my mind  I don't think it will be a problem, it will keep him/her a company in the room.
  6. I live with four cats, a cockatoo and two greys, I had no problem with the cats, they don't harm the birds at all they just get curious at times but then they know some how the birdie are not safe for them, the birds on the other hands been chasing away all the cats in the house and outside the house, so I don't think you need to worry! Just worry for your children cat!

  11. Joey, try to bounce the flash off the ceiling with a diffuser instead of directing it at the poor birdie, or just take pictures near the window, natural light from the window is perfect for indoors pictures.
  12. I wanted to thank everyone for the kind welcome Here are some of my new pictures of CriCri (CAG) and Sukar (TAG) along with my darling Vanessa (Umbrella cockatoo) I hope you like it - Jujube
  13. I remember when I had my first Grey (his name was Happosai) he would do it naturally, when I play with him on the sofa or table, and then hold a pencil or chopsticks, he would roll on the back and hold the pencil or the chopstick and lay for a min or so, it was fun for him, but I never forced it, it all happens by itself. When you play with your grey, just try to do it but use a pencil or a chopstick or even a smaller perch so he'd feel safe, then bit by bit remove it, he will probably do it without resisting and on his own.
  14. My birds stays in separate cages, so each one has its own food bowls, in the morning I give them seeds mix with nuts and pellet that already came with the birds food, at lunch time, I give them cooked mix veggies and colorful pasta, some fruits and their seeds mix get refilled too, at 6, I take them out for some fruits and bread meals, cleans everything in the fresh food bowls and then put them in the cages for the night
  15. I want to thank everyone for the sweet and warm welcome! I have already posted in the Welcome Room forum, thank you very much for advising me to do so. >> Radar: I think I've seen your videos on youtube isn't? lol It's probably someone else, but thank you very much for your kind comment, I hope I can meet people who have rescued parrots, I am a bit worried as I've read a lot of articles of people who rescues and the bird doesn't adjust to the new life and dies, I hope in my case it will be less risky, I am praying for it. >> danmcq: Thank you very much for the welcome! Oh I have my hands full all right! They are still so joyful to be with, I have been taking this as a work out too! I keep going upstairs and downstairs, filling food and water and my Cockatoo Vanessa is following my every step as she is also excited for the new arrivals, she wake up every morning, I open her cage and she go and check on Sukar (TAG), she sees me cleaning and everything and she would just want to stay with me to make sure she is still my number one girl. Cricri the CAG is quite happy too, but I still need him to try fruits, after weaning him he just like to eat seeds, some cooked mix veggies but he won't try bread or biscuits. >> Nevjoe: Thank you for the welcome Joe! I'm not new to greys, but the links are so helpful, the first link actually made me realize that CriCri is a Cameroons as he is larger in size compared the the ones I saw at the breeder house, and she told me he is a Jumbo, he got lighter feather and quite demanding! Thank you all for the welcome and the comment! - Jujube
  16. Hello everyone! I am new here but not so new to the fascinating world of grays I am a CAG and TAG owner from Norway, I was googling for informations about how to tame a untamed Timneh and came upon your forums, I thought of joining right away! I've had a CAG when I was a kid and he lived with us for a whole 6 years before his original owner claims him, and since then I did not think of adopting a new CAG until recently when my father surprised me with one who is only 3 and half months old, he was quite handful at first few days but I was so happy to be with the little guy he have his own character. I previously posted in the African Grey forum so please read the whole story of my new adoption here Link: http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/38966-my-timneh.html#38966 I am posting two pictures of my birds, CriCri (CAG) and Sukar-Sukar (TAG) Nice meeting you all - Jujube<br><br>Post edited by: jujubechan, at: 2007/10/14 03:37
  17. Hello everyone! I'm a CAG and TAG owner from Norway, I was looking through the net any articles about untamed greys, and I found some posts on greyforums.net, I was very glad to find the forum. When I was a kid, we had a CAG, he was untamed, he will scream at anyone comes close to the cage but after 6 months he turned out to be so lovable, sweet, cuddly, playful and very talkative, he spent 6 years with us and then his original owner came to claim him so since then we didn't have any grey in the house, I've got a lovable Cockatoo that she kept me busy as I grew up with her. Recently we've decided to adopt a 3 months and half old CAG, he would still bite but I taught him that hands don't harm him so now he became really nice and I've weaned him in few days of his arrival as he didn't want to eat baby food from the bottle anymore. And one day, I went to a pet shop looking for a Cockatoo to keep my girly-too company and found this poor Timneh, mistreated, living miserably and no one will buy him, he is probably a year or two old, untamed, scared of people and the shop clerk was pulling him from his leg or tail which made me go really mad, at the end I bought him for only $160 as the pet owner wanted to get rid of him. I went and bought for the Timneh (who is called Sukar-Sukar now) a huge cage, filled with toys and mineral perches, well I put it in a way that it doesn't scare him and placed his cage with his other roommates in a warm cozy guest room, but he still scream whenever he sees my hand, I am trying to make him feel comfy all I could, giving him fresh food and seeds, but he won't eat unless we are away, I am just praying he will come around and trust me, and I know it takes a long time but I just want him to be happy, I wanted to save him from that place.. My CAG CriCri he doesn't get along with TAG Sukar and a lot of time they fight but try to keep them apart as much as I can, the thing is my CriCri sneak into his cage, and my Cockatoo likes to visit too but she is not aggressive she is very friendly but curious.. I will try to take more pictures of them to share with everyone. Cricri after shower Thank you for reading. And nice to meet you all! Jujube<br><br>Post edited by: jujubechan, at: 2007/10/14 03:23
