Hi Steive, my baby is 3 only but I have a 6 yrs old timneh and a cockatoo that I grew up with, I did have my share with the other birds but not like this boy he is driving me nuts to be honest. I've been with another grey since I was 11 yrs old and he was not behaving this way either.. I am familiar with birds since a very young age and I know their body language quite well, but this one is just over doing it, I was hoping this will be just a phase and will go but it's been this way for a while now.. I'll try the ignoring thing but last time I did he rolled a vomit over my lap lol it wasn't so nice of him..

Thanks for your reply. I don't usually touch anywhere else than the head, preen his head only, and always play with him and give him toys and distract him to doing something else, but when it's time to relax he will just beg and beg for attention and when he find my hand he will just vomit on it like it want to feed me, I don't even try to touch his beak so he won't think I want to get fed, but yeah, I guess I need to discipline him some how..

Hello everyone! My 3 and half years old African Grey Congo (Cricri) is driving me nuts lately, he is in a mating mood all the time, he would not focus and its interrupting my training with him.. he doesn't seem to let go of my fingers and he would want to feed me all the time, just yesterday he figured where is my mouth is and jumped on me to feed me beak to mouth lol He is being like this for the past 2 weeks and I really don't know what to do with him anymore, we used to spend hours preening him but now all he wanna do is feed me and flirt with me, how can I make him quit it?

I'd go for acrylic toys as well, birds tend to love plastic some how.. I know birds toys are too expensive sometime and they last a day or so My birds sometime steals my baby sis toys and run away with it, I always chase after them! And trust me they have enough toys already in their cages lol

This is fantastic! Is there a tutorial on how to make your own playgyms? I am very interested to make one if I know what it needs. I often buy ropes perch and hang it around their big cages they seem to enjoy it but would love to build something smaller so I can put it on a table when I move around the house.

Hi Mark, yes, please read my previous sad story about my grays: http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/44010-heart-broken.html#44010 They were both tested, both confirmed that they carry the disease, it just I keep hoping it's gone and their immune system got stronger with the care I have given them, but I just can't be sure and right now I can't really do anymore tests as it cost a fortune.

Hello everyone! It has been a long time since I posted here, I wanted to ask the members if they knew anything about PBFDV and if the bird who has the disease can moult? Sadly two of my baby greys have PBFDV and I was supposed to do another test but I can't afford doing so right now but lately I've noticed there is new feathers coming out, though they did not lose their feathers, one has his feather fully but then he started to scratch himself or itches and the feathers would fall, the other one lost a bit of his feather on his neck but then I noticed new ones coming out..I was wondering if that means the test was not correct and they no longer have it? I've received a email from my Vet asking me to call him first thing in the morning as the results were in after 16 days of waiting, the doctor did not carry good news, he told me that my Timneh is a positive C.Psittaci and my CAG has a PBFDV, my timneh is staying with the Vet for medication for 40 days and I am caring for two CAG that has PBFDV now terrified that my Cockatoo have caught it too... but we can't test her before 4 weeks from now.. It's so sad, the Timneh might have a chance to survive with the treatment but my other babies might not even survive a year, I am so sad, I've cried when the vet informed me on the phone, I cried when I went to him and heard all what he had to say about it. I just hope they will have a stronger Immunity, I am trying my best to give them all I can, I feed them pellets and veggies/fruits/wheat/nuts the vet gave me a antibiotics to give it to them as well and advised me to purchase a Echinacea Drops to add to the water.. If anyone knows of more things to give them to help please advice me Tami

Oh I am so glad!

I have the same problem Toni, they like to sit on the water bowl, but its really cold for their poor little toes, I keep changing the perches to be as high as the bowls level sometime it works sometime they just wanna sit on the bowl or the food itself!

I'm a mom to a Cockatoo Umbrella Crested since I was 6 years old while she was just 1 year old (she's 16 now), she is so lovable, friendly, cuddly and LOUD, yes very loud everyone complains about her screaming of joy that can break your ear drum! lol But I love her to bits! Cockatoo can be darlings but not apartment friendly. I like the way MrSpock listed all these loud and quiet birds, it's very informative even for me, thank you!

A x-ray would help, though I dont think a grey or any parrot would swallow hard things, they usually make them as small as dust before they swallow anything but to be safe take it to the vet. Also look for your earring carefully maybe fell under the table or something? - Jujube

Dave, I am glad you helped this CAG and gave him another chance in life. Like birdgranna said do some blood work and try to find a good diet with calcium. Have you tried to get him out of the cage yet?

Hello TinyTimneh! I don't know if this might help but a friend of mine adopted a adult TAG and baby CAG at the same day from the same pet shop, though they've never met or been in one cage while they were at the pet shop but she brought them home in one carrier and then into a big cage, the baby CAG is a slightly larger than the TAG but she cling to it all the time and they don't have any problem, but it might be different when you have one already at home who feels secure and think its the only one that really matter at home then bringing another one it will only feel threatened even if you don't keep them in one cage, and yes also please consider the quarantee for 40 days whenever you bring a new bird at home so they won't get infected.
