 Siobha! I don't know if she's going for the smarter label - I think she's shooting for the "most petulant" award if you ask me! But I think you're on to something - keep her guessing! Well, on Sat. I'm going to do some bowl shopping! I'm not going to get dragged into a food fight every morning on my way to work! :woohoo:
-
Oh goodness Kitty - at age 6 she's still doing it. What is this love of food fights with these greys????
-
Aaaaah M2! I've seen those ceramic bowls. That might just work. It certainly would be better than those light metal bowls. Thanks! I think I'll give that a shot!

Here I was, in a hurry and all of a sudden I have this unbelievable mess all over! I'm wondering if her feathers would make a nice hat or something, I'm about ready to pluck me some red tail feathers!!!:woohoo:

Ok - all you grey mom and pops who have older greys - please tell me this bowl flipping over business is just a phase!!!! I thought I had Bella beat by enforcing a harder to open snap on her water bowls. We had a couple of days of no turned over water bowls. But today I was in a hurry trying to get to work. So, I was putting fresh paper into their cages when all of a sudden her breakfast bowl comes flying off the top of her playtop and oatmeal with blueberries splats all over the place  I think we both stood there dumb founded, staring at the unbelievable mess! In fact, Miss Bella was so fascinated by the mess it made she had to eyeball it from various angles! So.. please tell me - this bowl flinging business has to have an end no? They don't do this forever do they??? If you were able to get yours from stopping this - how did you do it?? Terri Post edited by: Nychsa, at: 2008/07/03 18:28

Post edited by: Nychsa, at: 2008/07/03 18:30

Nice Siobha!! I was trying to make out the Irish accent  I'm going to save this post and video Bella watching it - she went nutty! She started doing her "peak-a-boo", "beep beep" and she started barking  I really think she tries to talk to these videos
-
Ok Dan - you've lost it!!
-
Oh great - now the only people who can comfort and provide me with loving understanding while I'm being so abused by "Mistress Bella" are all going crazy too! &$#%^@%#$*

yep Dan - I guess that's just it, not matter what she does, she has me wrapped around that little claw of hers. I might as well just give into it and admit - I'm addicted to her!!!

             Dave I promise - I will be careful! I will keep my eye on her!

Hmm, Dan... I'd hate to have to put one of those hanging water bottles in there in lieu of her water bowls - she likes to take a dip in her bowls and make soup and I don't want to take that from her. But maybe I can get the water bottle so she always has water, but also leave the bowls. And when she wants to play "dump the water bowl", I'll do like you do - I won't pick it up, I'll just leave it - game over !!! Why do I feel she'll figure out some new game to drive me bannana wacky with though

Post edited by: Nychsa, at: 2008/06/30 01:21

Hi, I have one of those - it's just a bit lower, but other than that, it looks exactly like that. I put it in the living room in the evening and put poopy paper underneath it. Bella likes to sit with me in the evening. She usually sits on the couch, but when she has to do her business she goes to her stand to do it, or I put her on it if she hasn't been for 20 minutes. I've also put hanging toys on it that she likes to dangle from and I keep water in it for her and something for the munchies when she's with me in the evening. Cheers! Terri

Well..... I'm worn out now... This afternoon has been a battle of wills between my lovely little Miss Bella and I. The biggest point of contention is the water bowl. Her cage has these holders with clamps that hold the water bowl in place. Her Grace has taken to simply lifting up the clamp up, releasing her water bowls and then she tosses them around. I've already changed the paper in her cage 4 times today  So, I decided to tell her "no, no" and try to reason with her as she has outsmarted the mechanism to stop her. So.. I say 'no, no', she runs off, and the minute I turn around she's back at it  Just now we hit the all time 'no, no' high: I clamp the water bowl into place, she waits for me to turn around, so she lifts up the clamp, grabs the bowl and tosses it: I turn around, say 'no,no', she runs off, takes a running leap on to the bamboo shade, takes a chunk out, flies to the ground, runs over to living room and sees my cable for the computer and makes as if she's going to clamp that - of course I'm chasing after her and then she starts screeching! I finally pick her up and she poops all over my hand and has the nerve to say "ooop Poop Poop"!!! I'm done! I am REALLY DONE! That entire episode HAS to have been on purpose! I just can't buy that she went through an entire battery of things she's not suppose to do just to spin me up right???? So! the water bowl clamps don't work, I can't tie the clamp down because she'll untie it... any ideas?? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:angry:

Post edited by: Nychsa, at: 2008/06/30 00:36

Nice Dan! It took me starting the film a couple of times because every time I got it going, Bella decided she needed to add her two cents at the top of her lungs!! So, I couldn't hear a darn thing Dayo was saying, I finally put her back on top of her cage, and she went ballistic up there  She wanted IN on that conversation! I'll see if I can get one for you of Bella that you can play for Dayo - let's see if they get a conversation going :woohoo:

Dan - I did have a picture of her doing it - here she is!

Post edited by: Nychsa, at: 2008/06/29 23:25

danmcq wrote: Oy - it is video time again isn't it  I'm sure I can capture her beating the petudies out of her toys, she does it every day :woohoo: When she gets into position, my grand daughter said "oh oh, she's getting ready to do her gymnastics, hold your ears!!!"

Bella gets so loud when she attacks her toys the dogs run out of the room! She lays on her back and beats them with her feet, biting, growling, and screeching - I think that would be enough to scare a whole pack of dogs away:laugh:
-
Ah ha Spoooky - I do too. When Bella sits and snuggles with me in the evening, I usually put my nose in her feathers so I can smell her
-
Oh, you are indeed lucky, but so are your birdies! What a lovely family

Hi there Pat! Wow Tyco is big! Well, from hearing the sizes that Dave's birds are and Tyco, I think Bella is one of the big-boned birds, but she's at the lower end of that scale. So, I think she's more then likely fine weight wise. I am going to chart it like Dan and Mark are to see what environmental changes or other conditions cause her to gain or loose weight. We don't have much else to go by re: keeping on top of illnesses, so weight gain/loss is a pretty good metric to collect. Cheers! Terri

Dan, that is a great idea - keeping track of a larger sampling from the site here. That might give us enough data to draw some conclusions about things that impact our greys - weather as you mentioned, molting, flying etc.. I think any information that can help us ensure they are healthy is valuable - particularly given that they hide any illness so well. I've got Bella's weight in a little booklet, I'll put it into a graph and post it as well. Oh - by the way - Jiggy is up 10 grams too and he's flying around like a maniac. 10 grams is a lot of that little guy. He's now coming in at 115 grams. But, regardless of how well Bella ends up flying, I just don't see her doing the sharp angles and turns he does, or that elegant hover he's got going on. He hovers over something before he decides whether to go for it or not. He's still a miserable little hit and run artist though! Dive bombs anything shiney or metalic!

Oh my gosh Tracy LOL! What a hairdo! Don't they all look funny after a shower
