1. I was very happy that I voted and it's almost over with...finally they will start talking about something else on the news.
2. I think I must be one of the few that likes the old mature greys more than the babies. Elmo's eyes changed quite a while ago and I was very happy to see it happen. Don't get me wrong, I love all the baby birds but for some reason the older birds always get me to fall for them. Like Pattie and Sasha (both about 40), Ethel who is 9, and Whyman who was 24-25 years old.
3. Elmo is flighted now and loves to fly around the room. I can tell he has a lot of fun when he is flying and getting a workout in as well. I did clip him after he fledged and mastered flight so going back to flight was an easy one for him.

Post edited by: BMustee, at: 2008/11/05 00:43
4. Because the female didn't have any mites I went ahead and gave her a dose of Ivermectin and treated her feet just to be sure she is mite free and moved her into the big cage today. Not 10 minutes after moving her the male started singing! Oh and what a song it is! Still nothing out of the female but peeps and chirps so I'm almost sure she is a she. The Canaries will have their own aviary cage and the finches are in the other. As of now I only have two sets of stars and a disabled zebra pair. I lost my 7 year old set of owls a few months back and I sold my Gouldians to the store because I think the dust from Elmo might have been too much for their very delicate systems because I was treating them all the time for respritory infections and a few breeders I had talked to said they do a lot better outside in the fresh air.

Post edited by: BMustee, at: 2008/11/05 00:31

Laur!

6. No singing here at home yet but thats normal. It can take a few weeks for them to get comfy in thier new home. The male did sing at the store so I know he has a Beautiful song! I do plan on breeding them and I'm thinking I might hand feed a baby to keep as a pet.B)
7. Alcazar wants to raise your taxes and increase owner spending...Elmo promises that if you get less then 3 nuts a day you will not see ANY tax increase! {Feel-good-0002006E} I just HAD to do it!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
8. I love it when it's just jiberish coming out of their beaks but they think it's the funniest thing under the sun.
9. He looks like a different bird!!! I bet you will have a sweet bird out of him in no time.
10. I would say clip. Most birds are more trainable when the "power of flight" is minimized. Plus the work I have done with cage bound birds is that once you get them out and away from the cage they are different birds and can be sweet as pie right off the bat...but if they know they can go right back to their cage or fly around like a wild banshee then your might have a monster on your hands. Plus like you said you prob. will never clip him again so it's not like it's going to be forever.
11. I don't know if he understood what he was agreeing to but I do think he knew he was agreeing to it!

Avian Game

A few ways. Baby Greys will have black tips on the tail...a yearling will have an all red tail. A baby bird will also have black/dark eyes and as it ages they become light grey and at sexual maturity they will become yellow. What is the only 100% way of sexing you Grey?
13. I just got a set of Green/yellow pied canaries today at work and they are so cute! The owner gave me a good deal because the male has scaly mites from the breeder so we couldn't sell him to a customer so I asked if I could get him as cost and treat him at home. Here is the little boy. And here is who I think is a little girl (blow test wasn't clear but I have not heard her sing so lets hope:laugh: ) Right now they are in a hospital cage with all plastic perches to treat the mites but when the male is cleared up I'll be moving them to a huge cage of their own.
14. I will not say who I will be casting my vote for but I am really looking forward to be part of this election and will be GLUED to the TV.:woohoo: {Holidays-0002010D} I too think that the comment made was ment to start something out of nothing. This is an OFF TOPIC room that anything can be discussed and there is nothing in this topic thread that is going to offend anyone...other than the ONE post. This is a room made for everything but birds so if someone only wants to discuss bird topics then they don't need to post here. {Communicate-0002011A}

Post edited by: BMustee, at: 2008/11/04 04:05
15. I would have starved! LMAO! HAHAHA! Within days there will be a slew of parrot people at your door for free room and board!

Post edited by: BMustee, at: 2008/11/02 05:31
16. Thank God for Google...I don't know how I lived without it! Hahahahaha! I would love to go too...but TX is more than a bit out of the way for me.
17. It's called the interramal region or interramal space. Some birds have wierd things they do when they are relaxing. Ethel will sit and scratches the top of his head with his foot like a person rubs their temples.
18. I just did a little more snooping and found she will be in Dallas next weekend too.... " November 8-9, 2008: “Parrot Training and Enrichment Workshop” Austin, TX, USA. 19. Kaedyn wrote: This is the exact reason Greys and most other African birds do not get along well with other species of birds. New World parrots are "social flockers" and thus are more open to different types of parrots around them because in the wild there will be Macaws, Amazons, and Conures in the same group.
20. November 1, 2008: “Parrot Behavior and Training Workshop” Shreveport, LA, USA. Hosted by The Ark-La-Tex Caged Bird Club. Barbara Heidenreich will be presenting a day long seminar on the basics of training parrots with positive reinforcement. Visit www.acbc.net for more information. She is one of the most well known behaviorist around and I would prob. spend the money to learn a thing or two.

Post edited by: BMustee, at: 2008/11/02 05:05

22. Thanks everyone...and yes I was a "hubba hubba" LMAO:laugh: !!! I got just as many comments on the lashes as I did on the pumpkins. I heard a few people walking buy saying I must have "got them online". But no, did em' myself! I got all my seeds in the frig right now...can't wait to roast them. Mmmm Mmmm Mmmmmmmmmmmm

24. As for "skin heads" my father is a biker with a full sleeve tattoo and has shaven his head for 10+ years and in NO way is a racist or Hell's Angel. Also, my brother and my boyfriend's hair is no longer than 1/4 of an inch and both ride and they too are not in any way racist. As it was pointed out there are different skin heads...the racist type and the just bald type...but I figured that when I explained that I was watching a show about the KKK/Neo-Nazi movement I didn't think I needed to post a disclaimer about what kind of skin head I was talking about...I didn't say I was watching a show about bald people for cryin out loud so I figured it was a bit self-explanatory. Plus, never once have I ever heard someone call someone a skin head for just shaving their head...down here in the South we just call you bald for that.

Post edited by: BMustee, at: 2008/11/01 07:34
