The one I get is made by "HappyBird" and they are much smaller than the normal bath tub ducky, but I think it's the same material. I've been thinking of getting Elmo a normal tub ducky as a foot toy. The website is www.happybird.us We carry the toys at my store so I just get them at work. I know the local Petland carries them too, so if you have a Petland in town they might have them too.

I let Elmo get a little of my ice cream when I have it. She is the same way, she will go Ape **** until I give her some. I give her a few "tastes" while I have mine, and like you said no chocolate, and she seems fine. I know you shouldn't give parrots large amounts of dairy but a little bit won't harm them.

I used to use a sound proof room when I would practice the Cello during the bands practice time and it would get really hot in there. There was vents and all that in the room but it couldn't keep up with the heat I would produce being in the room and playing the cello...lots of noise to turn into heat. I would say if you really wanted Lily to get uninterupted sleep the thing to do would set up a sleeping cage in a quiet room.

Hahaha...Elmo ALWAYS chews the faces off the ducks first and THEN chews up the rest of them. I'm telling ya, there is something not right about her! I buy 3-5 of the duck toys at a time and then give one to her here and there.

Taking greys outdoors...is the breeze a problem?

Elmo is beyond a spoiled brat...she thinks she is Lady Gidiva or something.   She is always cracking everyone up in the house, and I really can't imagine not having her in my life. I too being in FL take Elmo out in the sun all the time for a little while but she doesn't like the summer weather. She likes to come out in the winter when the air is cool...she probably wishes we would move where it's cold all the time. -
Elmo LOVES her "Triple Threat Ducky" toy. She also likes anything with wood blocks. I'm pretty lucky, she doesn't like anything that's big, she likes Conure sized toys and foot toys. Here she is on her Hatch-day opening her gifts. I love the look on her face in this pic...doesn't she look like an excited kid opening gifts!
-
Elmo just picks his own...I think she would like it if I had fingers small enough to pick her nose. The baby Congo at my work likes to nibble the tip of our noses...it's super cute.

Here is an update to all men who say "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free." Women now realize that it's not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage. {Emotions-00020060}

Rain every stinkin' day...and the sky always opens up when I get in the car to go somewhere. I don't know how bad people drive where all you guys are but as you all know Florida is full of blue-hairs and they drive bad enough as it is...so just think of how bad they are in the rain. I'm tellin ya' I'm glad Elmo doesn't go to work with me because she would be talking worse than that YouTube grey Ruby, 'cause boy have I been yelling some colorful words. :woohoo:

AHHHHHH...NO NO NO! Let me try to word that again. She learned some...lets say crude...sound FX from me, but I think she is just an all around unrefined bird for doing the nose pick'n eat. She will pick at her butt in public, and likes to look at her poo in the toilet...things she does that she did NOT learn from me. I'm telling ys' Dan, you really like to spin words. I'm sure your wife LOVES that. Hahahahaha

Taking greys outdoors...is the breeze a problem?

I use a harness on Elmo to go outside, but I have been using it sense she was a baby so it's never been a problem getting it on. The only danger a breeze poses with parrots is that they can fly away on it. A clipped bird can easily become airborn and fly away, and not be able to even attempt to get home. As for the drafts, when me and Elmo go out for a drive around town she will sit on my shoulder and positions herself in just a way as to hog all the A/C. She will fluff her feathers and let the cold air blow through them. She will get mad if I move the vent away from her so I let her have her fun with the air. -
Yes, keep us posted.B) You better run like the wind...hahahaha

{Feel-good-0002006E} Ohhh man, you guys are horrible!!! Learned habbit my butt! Hahahaha. I think she just has REALLY bad manners, but it's not the worst thing she does.:woohoo:

Yeah, the 99.8% is what I use and it's perfectly safe for your grey. There is a little bit of preservatives in it, that's why they can't say 100%.

I love the older greys. From what I have read the old wild greys are more well-rounded than their captive offspring. I'm sure your going to have a ball with him!
-
I get mine at Walmart...it's with the constipation stuff!!!   Don't use the gels because they have some not-so-natural stuff in them. If your grey ever gets a booboo you can break a shoot off a aloe plant and us the goo inside to rub on the spot. You can get aloe plants at any plant store...for pretty cheap too.

It could be something was different like everyone else has said. It could also be hormones for how old he is. Almost all of our Amazons are hormonal right now. The one Cuban Amazon we have at the store (Turkey) was really hormonal for a little while. He would bite everyone without the usual warning. Now he is back to his old sweet self...I just hope the rest of them follow suit. I know how bad a bite to the lip can be, I got nailed really bad in the lip a few months ago by one of our Blue & Gold Macaws and it looked horiffic!!! It was like a nasty herpes sore, but on steroids! I was so embarrassed for days...everyone would look at it when I was talking to them, so I had to explain it was a macaw bite. The best thing to put on it is Vicks Vapor Rub...I know that sounds weird, but it feels really good on it and it keeps you from licking your lip where you got bit. I tried putting chapstick on it at first but it got worse from that.

Post edited by: BMustee, at: 2008/08/23 07:00

Elmo does too...but she is pretty gross about it. She will bit her nails and then do that thing where they stick their nail in their nose and pick it around...and then she puts her nail back in her mouth. so she PICKS IT AND EATS IT!!! That is one thing she did NOT learn from me!!!!

I have a DNA'd female CAG and she is about 1 year 5 months old. She talks non-stop and uses words in context. As far as I know there is no real difference in males and females. Some people say that males are more likey to change their "chosen" person around the time they hit sexual maturity than females are, but that may just be because they didn't socialize their greys right. When I got Elmo I picked her because she was the pig of the clutch and she kinda picked me. When the time is right and you go to pick one out don't focus on the sex...pick the one that wants to come to you, because that one will be the best pet for you.

Fay is sitting off the East coast of Florida. I think it's off of Daytona...maybe a little north of there. It's still raining here on the west coast from Fay, and it's going to keep raining through the weekend.

Yeah, it sounds like you might just have a big eater. What do you feed him? I know if I were to put Elmo's favs in front of him he'll eat like there was no tomorrow. Things like Sunflowers, almonds, grapes, and corn are some of the foods he will gorge on, so I only give sunflowers when we trick train and the other things in healthy amounts.
-
LOL...yes, the keel in the breast bone. I can just picture you poking around his butt...Hahahahaha!!! :woohoo:  If Baxter could I bet he would be saying..."SHE SAID KEEL WOMAN...NOT COP A FEEL!!!" That sounds about right. If you don't want as much waist you can cut to just on scoop of each with the half of the dried fruit. When I give Elmo a little Boca Nut no Shell I give less of the base diet.
-
I take Elmo around town in his harness. He does into 7-11, the pet store, anywhere really he is allowed to go. The clips don't ever seem to bother Elmo, so I'm going to stay with the feather tether. The only thing I would be really worried about would be dogs and hawks. Cats are small enough that is they charged you could kick them away, but a beagle that was dead set on getting your bird would be a bit harder to fend off.
-
Yep, I couldn't say it any better than Judy did. Soon she will be making every noise under the sun...just give her a little time.
-
Geez...I need to get my eyes checked. I could have sworn yoiu said you couldn't feel his keel.:pinch: Yeah, if the keel is easily felt he's good. It should feel like it's a bit thin, but still a little meat on ether side of the keel. Birds really don't eat that much in a day. I use one of those scoops that come with coffee and give one scoop of his seed and one of him pellets...sometimes a little more. He'll eat the stuff he likes like grapes and corn till he explodes though.
