  1. Thanks Judy here you go Joe your orange fix
  2. Hannah i personally think it's all depends on the individual bird. Greys are flock animals, they need to be with their flock meaning their family, It is natural behavior for greys to communicate and interact with their flock. By flock i mean you & your family if you are going to keep a single grey.As i said on my last post i do believe interaction with many humans stands your bird in good steed for a healthy relationship. I have a female grey who reguritates her food for me, so my answer to you if you have a female she may bond to your husband, she may not, she remain neutral, i do not personally agree that a male will bond with a female & vica versa, but that's my own opinion.
  3. dicky601 I'm sure he will be ok, glad that there was no signs of discharge or soreness
  4. Mine sometimes kind of scratch their nose with their foot  but check as Dan has said to see if there is a discharge & i would monitor how often this is happening, if to frequently id get it checked. If its just occasional i wouldn't worry to much.
  5. Marsha we are here for eachother, we all share that passion for our birds, although we have never met we can still share eachothers bad times & good times. That is what make's us a great family
  6. Thanks Dan, no stopping me ! Sorry off topic
  7. After chatting to beccy one night i was wondering if your friends share your passion for your grey ? My friends have no interest in my greys & do not understand the passion & love i have for them, & the love & affection they return to me . Am i alone in this scenario ? That's why i love this place everyone is warm & compassionate,we share advice, stories, make new friends, have fun & it is our greys that brought us here, how wonderful is that ? ALL x
  8. Thanks Dan He is a UK seller, i e-mailed him a picture of when the boys were little & that was the result, it is proudly framed & sits in my lounge

  10. A one year health guarantee is great Not many breeders will offer that long. I doubt it will cover any reimbursement for vet fees, most people i know have pet insurance, well worth getting if it available where you are. If you are going to be away at times & if it;s only a couple of times a year i dont see any problems as long as you have someone who can care for your bird, in your own home is best, or someone your bird will be use to. When you say physical ailments, do you mean physical signs of illness ? birds are great at covering up illness, the tell tale signs would be showing signs of being lethargic ,loss of appetite, any distinct changes in the poop, sitting fluffed up continuously & resting on two feet instead of one, once you own a grey you pretty much know what is normal for your bird, anything that is out of character for your bird you will pick up on.

  16. Hi Hannah, Many people do believe that a male grey will bond better with a human female & vice versa. They can change their minds at any point & pick their favourite person.I do believe proper socialization from a very young age is the way forward, share all the bird caring duties with someone if you can, i let my greys out of their cages during the week as my husband works away but at weekends he gets to do it, he gives their favorite treats etc.. i find this helps & at present all three accept us equally. If your grey does pick one person there is not much you can do apart from accept it & carry on sorry to hear the eggs were clear
  17. Hi binkiesmom & What a Wonderful thing you have done rescuing your grey from a horrible fate. You will find a wealth of knowledge on here & great members.Look forward to some pictures, they will need resizing no bigger than 500 pix.
  18. A very good tip Rambo for birds who wont eat certain foods, a little bit of their favourite juice on top of the food may just encourage them Yes i agree they are just like kids ! they want what we have
  19. I agree with Joe, an excellent post Kim Very well put.
  20. dareuk i agree with beccy you really should give her a name, what do you call her when your talking to her or getting her to step up etc.. ?
  21. beccy, i have no idea about the oranges, but i suppose some are more difficult to get hold of, depending on where you live !
  22. You have a very valid point beccy about the cage, im sure many greys resent their cage, it must be a fun & happy place to be for them.
  23. Brian's a headbanger  Sorry back on topic, good post beccy good information on when they may also shake their heads.
  24. Hi. head shaking is common in greys, Some shake their heads as if there's water in the ears. No one really knows why they do this, and it seems to be normal. If your bird is doing this excessively it may be a sign of an ear or nasal infection but i wouldnt worry to much my three shake their heads.
  25. It is a shame that we have to cover up, but thats society for you  Unfortunately some jobs will not permit them & They seem to be the authoritative jobs, i dont mind as i dont want to give the wrong impressions to the kids at school, im sure in time i will bump into half of them proudly displaying their tattoo's off
