  1. Hard work pays off, all that you have put into him he will reward you 100 times over ! my rescue wasnt in a bad state when i got her but had spent days caged & was feed a poor diet, her feathers were a mess etc.. now she is in good condition, has approx 9/10 hours out of cage time, she still has some way to go, biting etc.. but she is worth every second i put in to her
  2. i find here in the UK if you go to buy something for your grey the minute it is classed as a "parrot toy " the price goes up ! There are some great alternatives out there
  3. Well put Makena, fortunate you guys are near eachother so Makena can point you in the right direction cage size, the bigger you can afford the better, powdercoated is fine but if i had had the money i would personally have gone for stainless steel. I would house your grey inside, but if you have the money in the future i would advise an outdoor flight/cage. As for the harness start useing it when you bring your baby home, the younger they are the easier he will adapt to it.
  4. When i brought my two boys home i left them in their cage for one hour, they had quite a long journey.I then let them out to familiarize with their play stand & surroundings. It is a good idea for perhaps the first week or so to have the perches in the cage near the middle & bottom, maybe an old towel or blanket with some newspaper on top, changed daily, this will cushion any falls your grey may have.Baby greys love scratching on the bottom of the cage so dont be alarmed if your baby does this, it will pass. Greys love routine, so start as you mean to go on.Where your grey is going to have breakfast, what times she is coming out of her cage etc,,they can adapt & obviously there the routine is flexible but try to stick with it. Im sure you will be fine & your baby will fit in with your lifestyle, keep us informed
  5. Baby's toys are great & as judy says most of the time a fraction of the cost of parrots toys.I use an array of baby toys.rattles, coloured cotton reels, non toxic wooden blocks etc..
