  1. i'm unable to find anything suggesting he owned a parrot
  2. Your doing well, maybe try & introduce some more fruit & veg
  3. BMustee you are an exception, you have great knowledge, compassion & love & you are not included in the usual run of the mill shop assistants who know nothing
  4. Good for you trying to educate people at the pet store
  5. Thank you Judy,my friend has a long list of people waiting to re-home greys but her main concern with Indy was if he was re- homed elsewhere he could just end up sitting in a corner & never improving the only option was she kept Indy, but she is full to bursting point with her greys & the other option me I feel honoured that she has faith in me & in time i can get Indy to enjoy his life & relize it's ok to be vocal & act like a grey should. The future holds a better quality of life for Indy.
  6. Hi & , look forward to hearing more from you.
  7. Hi All, Well i had a call from my friend who is involved with rescue work,She has a grey who is in need of a permanent loving home & yes you guessed he is coming to live with me.We don't have much history apart that Indy is maybe 2 to 5 years old,We believe he may have been imported before the ban came into place. We believe he has been broken very cruelly. The poor mite does not utter a sound & does not move around, he basically sits in one spot for the whole day.As far as we know Indy has had two previous owners & has been kept in a small cockatiel cage with one wooden perch & no toys etc.. His diet has been seed only.I am driving two hours on Saturday to collect him & will keep you up to date on his progress which i know will be a long journey, but i will give him a new life & all the love he deserves .
  8. Just to add, give any branches collected from outdoors a good scrub with hot water to get any nasties off & if possible make sure they have not been sprayed with any pesticides etc
  9. Not a crazy story Jimmy. it just shows what a caring & loving grey owner you are
  10. Lusya a lovely picture of Izzie johnnyboy i think they love the juice & yes they are very good at decorating the walls for us
  11. Grrrrrrr don't pet stores with untrained staff just make you angry  They all should have some basic knowledge on how to care for a bird in the correct way. Unfortunately Jimmy this is not just an isolated incident i have heard other stories, if we had that lottery win many of us would give some of these poor guys new homes.
  12. Dave first class advice,we appreciate your knowledge, thank you.

They all talk at different ages, the mumbling you are hearing is perfectly normal in a young grey. She has spoken a few words so that's a good start. She should be restrained when you are driving in a travel or carry cage,it is not advisable to let any bird loose in a car, there is a risk of a serious accident happening.
  14. AS judy said connie a little blurry but boy what a wonderful beauty she is
  15. birdmom i gave jonh haywoods details in my first post, he is the main man here in the uk when parrots are lost & found Thank you for looking up the others.
  16. Lusya just keep offering the pellets, as long as she is eating other foods that's fine.Have you tried softening the pellets & offering them to her ? one of my greys eats then throws the rest of her food all over the place ! she may well be playing with you.If she continues to reject them perhaps try a different brand & introduce them mixed in with other food.
  17. {Feel-good-0002006E} Beats my newspaper Dan, thanks for the insight in to Bushcronium: Your a wealth of knowledge
  18. Hi Hobbo & If you fill us in a little more, how long have you had him ? how old etc. ? Keep at it with the step up, greys can be stubborn but with time & patience he will gain your trust
  19. That's ok then ! i though you were letting her have a twix
  20. Try a mixture of food, some seed, fruit & nuts ( not in the shell )I'm so surprised it has survived this long, it is obviously finding food from somewhere, try chatting to him, if he is a pet that has escaped he may be tempted by a human voice.
