  1. Thanks for the update Matt, As the vet said if it was his heart there was nothing anybody could have done.Max was truly loved with you & it would be wonderful to have his brother or sister, the only thing i would say is please ask the vet if Max's heart problem could be heredity ? i would hate for you to go through another heartache, perhaps discuss it with the breeder as well please keep us posted.

  14. Hi Staggerlee, You bring up a very valid question & i do not have enough knowledge either way to answer it,I do know that the PVC itself isn't toxic or carcinogenic,it's the plasticizers that make PVC soft and flexible which can be toxic and carcinogenic. ( carcinogenic = The term carcinogen refers to any substance, radionuclide or radiation that is an agent directly involved in the promotion of cancer or in the facilitation of its propagation ) I would say to all our members that have made PVC play stands do not go into panic mode, We need more input into this & your experiences please.I personally have made toys from PVC piping & dont have any worries at present & will continue to allow my greys to play with them.

  21. Jimmy how old is Cosmo ? have you noticed any other feathers ? Tail feathers certainly drop out during the molt, they normally start with the down feathers comimg out, followed by the smaller head feathers and nape feathers. The the wing and tail feathers are usually last.New pins will start to form which you will be able to see,They push the old feather out.Dont worry about him playing with the feather thats very normal, just check the end of the feather,if it was in tact,no visible blood then it wasnt plucked/pulled it would have come out naturally
  22. Yep quivering is normal grey behaviour, but in some cases may occur when the bird is frightened, overly excited, or sometimes is part of breeding behavior.
