1. Buy your husband a bird too! This is typical of most greys, they bond better with one person. Ollie may change later, and only go to your husband, and not you. I'm guessing though, that you are the main care taker and flock leader, that's why he is acting this way. So, buy him a bird, and don't feed or clean it.
2. Welcome to the family, and the reason your pics probably aren't working, is the same reason I had troubles my first time... they can't be larger than 500 pixels! Hope this helps! razza45 wrote:
3. Thanks Judy. I chuckled at myself when I was creating it.
4. LOL I just read the whole forum on this t-shirt, first I thought I was submitting after the date, then I see that my idea is very similar to xxbeccyxx's. Totally an accident!

Post edited by: Connie, at: 2007/08/26 16:28
5. Thanks Toni. I like that one, or "mom told me not to stick my fingers in the cage" Toni wrote:
6. Ya, I thought the severed finger was a nice touch. I couldn't figure out how to get them both in the same post, after I resized them to 500 pix.
7. Ok, this is my entry. A little graphic, but funny. Ya gotta love photoshop!

Post edited by: Connie, at: 2007/08/26 15:23
8. That I understand Monique, a long time loved pet/family member. But to purposely SKIN and FREEZE healthy endangered birds is just wrong.
9. Sorry for ranting guys, I'm off to hug my babies and go to bed.

Post edited by: Connie, at: 2007/08/25 15:15
10. I didn't even realize how lucky I was to have one of these amazing birds until I read wikipedia and found they are "near threatened". Thankfully, they are slowly making a comeback, but in homes and not in the wild. I will NEVER take mine for granted! In 2007, the Grey Parrot was uplifted to Near Threatened status by BirdLife International. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_Grey_Parrot
11. I agree Dan Actually, I didn't even read the bottom of the site. Just the stuff about the parrots.
12. This thread wasn't to start a conversation on who eats meat or not, but the shameful slaughter of endangered animals (parrots). I'm not offended with deer heads etc. but once an animal is threatened or endangered, enough is enough. I would consider having my pet stuffed after a LONG life, but to murder innocent birds and endangered birds, is just wrong in my opinion!
13. LOL Dan Is there a parrot to human translation dictionary? Maybe we should all get together and write one!
14. Ya Dan I'm a meat eater too, but I cried at the site of the skinned grey {Feel-bad-00020072}
15. It's the same one probably, I was searching images on msn.
16. Hello my avian friends. I just found something that made me very mad and sick to my stomach. Apparently EBAY members have been selling skinned, stuffed and/or frozen parrots. Below is the link of this horrific story. I caution all, this is NOT for those with a weak stomach, or a sensitive heart. Just know we must contact EBAY and let them know of our discust of these sellers. I'm sorry for posting this, but maybe collectively we can help stop it! http://www.theangryparrot.org/other_animals_in_retail.htm
17. Well, the first words darla learned after coming into my home, were hello and no bitting. Which apparently she says in my voice. Spanky starts off playing, with a little taste test and sure enough after awhile... he bites me. But he doesn't do it everytime? He also likes to sit on my shoulder and pull my hair out. I say stop pullin' my hair out, and he laughs. Cute, but it still hurts sometimes.
18. Well I'm gonna have to join this club too, I have been bit several times, and it is also an almost daily thing with Spanky. He too does that old fake out...pet me, love me, pick me up BITE. I tried to time out in his cage, but I don't want that to be a place he doesn't want to be either. I've read about others who blow in their face when they bite, and I've been trying it...I must say, it seems to be the most effective so far. Darla is the one who has drawn blood a few times, but I think it was my fault for trying to rush her into getting closer to me. She was 1 1/2 when I got her, and not sociable at all. She has come a long way, and doesn't bite me near as much as Spanky. She did almost pierce my lip when I tried to give her kisses the first couple of times. Now I tell her my intensions, and she accepts a kiss or two. I was also attacked by fourtrap's sun conure, we were over for dinner, and shelby was let out of the cage, sitting on daddy's hand, and lunged right for my throat! No blood, but a very nasty bite. I know I'm not the president, but definately a member of this club!! {Feel-bad-00020080}
19. Well thank god, I thought all my old clothes were being attacked. Never even came to mind, that the moths would be from the bird food. I know I'm having a very hard time with fruit flies also, I tried to vaccuum them up yesturday, but there are twice as many today. I also leave a bowl of peach skins by the cages, to keep the bugs off the birds. Can hardly wait for winter, just to be rid of the bugs. Thanks coolnanna, karma for you!
20. You can, all you need is photoshop and take the tutorials on the internet. Play with the program, it's fun. This is the same bird, doctored with a red tail. Just a quick job, not the greatest. judygram wrote:
