It's okay I've been super busy myself!!!
-
Wow, just walking into this I think there was a bit of over reaction, but I never noticed this site wasn't encrypted...oops...I changed my info easy as that...not sure what the over reaction was about????
-
How incredibly sad!!! You have my condolences
-
I've heard that the feathers are darker on boys once mature. I've also noticed that males heads are very flat(where as females have rounder) and their beaks are much larger in relative to their head size than a females. Also the feathers near the vents are supposed to be grey on the tips if it's a female, both mine have it and both mine are female! The only way for sure though is DNA sexing!

I'm just so confused Joe, and I stand by what Kris said I may not have talked to you as often but considered you a good friend, I hope you come back soon!

That was hlarious!

If you knew then what you know now....

I can honestly say so far I wouldn't change anything. Both my Greys were rescues and I know they're in the best permanent home they could be in. I didn't get the luxury of having them as a baby and getting to get them used to being touched and toweled, and such like that, so starting with them "mid" stream rather than scratch I had to adjust to them more than they had to adjust to me. I just wish I didn't have to work LOL -
Joe where are ya goin?? Did I miss something?
-
Hope ya'll enjoy!! This is the tunnel that goes through the mountain from one side of Oahu(Windward side) to the other(Leeward side) View of the mountains right before going through the tunnel At the beach near Turtle Bay I love these little sun breaks Sharks cove, some of the best snorkeling near North Shore From the left, my Best friend River, my Sister and God daughter and then Me at Sharks Cove Someone caught an eel while we were out fishing The plane ride over This was my "I think I'm a pro photographer" shot LOL A HUGE 1.5 pufferfish we were trying to catch while fishing Walking on water, honestly on the military base there, they have a lot of bays where you can go out several hundred yards and it only goes up to about your thighs. Problem is once it gets deeper than you knees you run the risk of seeing sharks! This was just pretty Some of the retired planes you see when you get on the military base Some of their wild birds Aerial view before landing The triangular black thing in the background is mount Kileuea or however you spell it! From the left, my sister, River, and I And that concludes my trip to Hawaii LOL Post edited by: loviechick, at: 2007/12/14 20:16

Post edited by: TalonSis, at: 2007/12/15 03:15

Oh wow!!!! That is sooo sweet, that girl knows she is loved for sure! I've never seen a Buffon's in person I had no idea they were the size of a Hy!
-
Red says Come ERE NOW:laugh:  Zsa Zsa however has learned that when she bangs her beak on the side of her seed skirt that I come in there to see what she's doing. Works everytime!
-
Its been in the 40's here in Oregon, and they've only been in about 60 degree heat and they're all alive and well!
-
Man babies are so cute with those dark lil eyes!
-
Red was about 13 years old, my honery little teen:laugh:
-
I agree with Dan! Just testing you, and feeling you out......my 3 year old CAG still does this. To be honest I think she tests to see if you're scared of her or not, she does this to my friends and when they jerk away, she bites hard as hell LOL
-
I'm sure she's well on her way to talking. The more talking you do with her, the more she will at the very least hear. Now she may not mimic every word that you say, and there's no guarantee that she will ever talk, but just keep with what you're doing. Most greys that I've met as babies don't start really vocalizing until around a year old. Heck my 3 year old CAG can only say about 5 words and I talk to her all the time!

What size cage do you all have for your congo grey
loviechick replied to Barbie36's topic in The GREY Lounge
There's no guarantee that the powder coating is safe. Most companies that sell bird cages won't put large amounts of heavy metals in their paint like lead...however sometimes there can be zinc. BUT the only way they could get zinc poisoning is if they picked at the paint on the outside of the cage and actually digested it! -
Well being that you're not interested in breeding them, which is good, I wouldn't put them together unless you had them sexed first! If they were both males/females ok then great. However the only other issue you run into is them bonding to eachother. I have heard horror stories of 2 birds hating their owners once put together, and I've also hear where it made no difference. Being that they're still "babies" they're still going to be in that lovie stage with you. Come maturity in a year or so, that might change...You know what room you have to work with more than I do. All you can do is take the information you have at hand and make the best decision. Will it always have the best outcome no, if it did, we would all be fortune tellers:laugh:
-
I'm amazed that poor baby isn't plucked to death! This sounds exactly like my rescued CAG, Red, one perch, one toy, all sunflower seed diet, in an 18X18 cockatiel cage. I'm convinced the only reason they kept her for so long was cause she could talk!
-
Mine all have a faint birdy breath, it usually changes though to what they're eating! I don't think it means they're ill though.
-
Personally if it were me I would have been on the horn that night with the vet until I had an answer. There are so many horrible chemicals I mean it burns our eyes just to open them under water in a chlorinated pool I can't imagine even the slightest bit being good for any bird or animal if it got in their system!
-
My Senegal parrot has done that, and also my Sun Conure, but only after taking a big swig of water, and I think they just got water logged....I would still keep an eye out on it, doesn't seem like normal regurgitating to me!
-
Mine has pink feathers everywhere also, I wouldn't worry about that!

My cages for my greys are fairly large, but I did this because I wanted them to have the extra space and room for toys since I work full time and they can't be out all day. I can't remember the demensions, but this is the cages they're in but with more toysd obviously, I was still setting Red's up when I took this!
