  1. I think in the video it says 1 lbc and 9 ounces and then we weight the towel and it was 7 ounces and in his summary it written 1 lbs and 2 ounces
  2. Well I did a search in the internet and comments said this is a good vet for birds. He by himself said he has 30 years experiment with birds. But now I am not sure at all.
  3. Ok you guys are right. I just did a google search and almost everyone said that normal weight is around 400-500 grams. I also like to hear from others. Honestly I am doubting the vet now! I mean I am not sure if he was a good vet or not. http://beautyofbirds.com/AverageBirdWeights.htm
  4. Well Alex was 1lbs 9 ounces with the towel and the towel was 7 ounces. This means Alex is 1 lbs and 2 ounces only. But still that means almost 500 grams which is heavier than Miss Gilbert right? Also his vet said that when he touches Alex chest he can feel that Alex is under weight.
  5. Thank you guys So latest update for Alex is that I brought him to vet. You can watch the video on how his vet treated him. Sad news is that Alex is 1.2lbs while his vet said he should be 2lbs. He said Alex had bad food for a year or even more. That is why he is so thin. I hope I can help him to eat better food. Feel free to give me comment on better feeding and his vet.
  6. Wow these birds are way more crazy than I thought. Thanks for the info
  7. Good point guys. I will change that asap. Thanks for the input.
  8. What do you think about Alex and his reaction towards his new toy? Watch this video: I used woods that we cut from our trees in the garden, and made this toy for Alex to see if he likes it or not. Well, unlike other toys that he freaks out for a day before approaching it, this natural toy got all his attention, and he does not let go of it. I only gave it to him less than an hour ago and he didn't leave it at all. I took this video 5 mins after him seeing the toy. He was outside of his cage and rush inside to play with it. He already broke 3 part of the wood.
  9. I have a question. Is that ok if I give cooked chicken bones, to Alex? He can chew it and play with it but I wonder if it is bad for his health?
  10. Alex does, exactly the same thing! Hahaha that is so cute
  11. Ok here is the latest video of Alex. I am not sure if he is happy with his new toy, or mad or stress or maybe just playful. Whatever it is he is cute lol
  12. Just wanted to update you guys with this good news. Alex tail is now growing new feathers. I am so excited for him and hopefully he will not chew it anymore. This makes me feel that Alex is happy in his new home.
  13. I am trying on this but he always run away. When somebody go too close to him he start shaking. Alex is still working on his trust. I don't like to rush it for him. I want him to be relax and do stuff on his own time.
  14. Thanks for your respond. Now that I know I have to be patient and don't worry about not stepping on new perch, I want to know how often I can introduce new perch? Alex cage was kinda empty when I got it and he had only one toy. I bought several toys and Perches for him. His reaction to new things made me stop giving him all his toys and Perches. Shall I wait for Alex to completely accept new one before adding another one? I so want to keep Alex busy so he will not chew his tail again. When I got him, he didn't have any tail, because he chewed it all. Now he is growing some new feathers in his tail and I want to make sure he is happy enough to let them grow so there will be a day that he can fly again. Thanks again.
  15. Ok so Alex is not scare of new perch anymore but he doesn't step on it. He just chew it. Ok, I need your ideas. I was thinking to remove all perches from his cage except the new one and live him alone with the new one for couple of hours. After he sit on new one for a while then bring back old perches! Is that wrong to do?
  16. Thank you so much everyone. Great advice
  17. Hi all, I have new problem with Alex. I got him two new perch and one T for top of his cage. I introduced them one by one but he is really scared of them and he doesn't step on them. I even placed some fruit on those perch for him to go pick them up and eat but he does his best to pick those fruits without stepping on the perch. One of them is rope perch and he hate it and trying to destroy it. I was thinking maybe he has bad memory of stepping on anything and he only trust whatever was in his cage from before. How can I help him to get over this? Thank you for always giving awesome advise
  18. Personally after having different parrot and now a Grey, I learned body language can have different meaning in different parrots. I think it depends on their past life. One thing is clear in your situation is, you missed one portion of her life. You don't know what exactly happened to her and you don't know what new behavior she developed during that time. I suggest to focus on learning them. I don't think you can generalize body language. Alex do almost all of these things. For example when he bites his cage it doesn't always means he is angry. Sometimes he is trying to get my intention. If he is angry and bite the cage then he keep doing it even if I talk to him. But if he is trying to get my attention, he stop and come towards me as soon as I start talking to him. Sometimes he bites his cage and remain there, and it means come and kiss me even if I am in the cage. Biting toys can be anger and can be excitement. Like last night I made new toy for Alex and he ran towards it when I placed in his cage to play with it. But then I felt I should have place it in a better position and as soon as I wanted to reach to move the toy he start biting it with anger. Also Greys can be nervous and if they are nervous then they act so confusing. They might be angry now and happy second later. Alex still has his swing mood.
  19. You got me right. That is exactly what I meant Sorry if my English is not so good
  20. Thanks for your reply. He has one pumice perch already and he loves it.
  21. haha you are right, that is a monster beak. But very cute!
  22. Hi all, I was wondering if Alex' beak looks fine or it is too long. I attached some of his pictures. Thank you for your help
  23. I just want to update you guys about Alex and his progress. He is so kind and gentle now. He does not bite, instead if he doesn't like something he leaves or with upper part of his beak he pushes my hand away. He still doesn't like to step on my hand but I am so happy that he like to dance with us now. He also started taking shower by himself 2 times a week. I caught him taking shower. I just saw his bowl was empty and full of his dust, he was wet and he also made everywhere wet around himself. I bought a bigger bowl for him to use for shower but never had a chance to make him use it yet. Anyway he starts showing his real personality. He is kind and gentle and most funny thing is that if we don't go to sleep when it is late or there will be activity around his cage when he wants to sleep, he will speak in load and angry voice and keep saying "Night Night Night". He does it till we all go to sleep and he can sleep too. I found that very funny and cute. So now I know when he is sleepy and when he wants to sleep. Thank you everyone for your help and advice.
