Hi, I one of the books I was reading it said that the wild vocalizations are usually a combination of HEE o Hoot... I need to find the book, I will get back to you. Quiet an interesting passage about the subject... until then

I am so happy for you! I was really willing it to happen. What a relief! Lots of love and have a bath and a good nights sleep...

Sooooo sorry to hear that news, I will point my good vibes in your direction. I can't imagine how bad you must feel. Don't give up hope he WILL come back or be found by someone. Strange that you couldn't hear him making any noise. Let as many people in your neighbourhood know, you WILL get him back!!! Please keep us posted!

I do sprouts, according to one leading german bird man you should always sprouts some of the seeds that you are feeding your bird. You should have a success rate of at least 40% of the seeds sprouting otherwise it is a sign that the seed mixture is of a poor quality and you can look for something better.

Nice tip, I am living in the land of palm nuts....going to get some right away!! Thanks
-
Oh ya you are quite right, I didn't even look at the date. Hopefully she found some food. I lived in Germany for a few years and they have great pets stores.
-
In Germany you can buy Vitakraft in most pet stores, where are you located? Maybe I can give you some tips...

I am definately a kisser! We practise safe kissing no exchange of bodily fluids, which is more than I can say when I kiss my dogs...YUCK! Life is full of dangers but I figure you can't control everything. I wash my hands before I handle my bird and I figure my dry lips are relatively clean or at least cleaner than the floor that he likes to walk around on. But hey that is just ME!

Ying Mo is a 460gramms Wow what a big birdie!
-
Hi ya, I just felt inspired to weigh Ying Mo...Oh my God he is 460 grams! What is the deal with that! He doesn't seem fat, he is eating lots but he is out of his cage and flying lots too... umm I will ask my vet about that.
-
Hi ya, Why not got to Oz. You can fly to Sydney direct from Hawaii and you won't get killed on the currency exchange rates like in the UK. Nothing like walking the beaches of Bondi, but remember dont go swimming in the Bilabongs.
-
Wow, I am glad it all worked out. Hopefully you will have the problem cleared up really soon. Nice to hear that your bird is big and healthy!

Tari, please don't hold anything against greylover, you have to understand that living in the south of spain is like living in north africa. Things are very 3 world here and a trip to Madrid may sound like an easy thing, but it is not that simple. It is about 7 hours away, so the stress for the bird would be enormous with temps over 35C, plus there is no guarantee that they are even open as in August most business are on summer holiday. He is VERY lucky to have a vet that even speaks english! We are all trying to do the best for our animals.... -
Sorry reading this forum a litte late. Ying Mo is talking bird in cantonese.

HI greylover, did you try the link I sent you, just wondering if they helped at all or had any useful info in regards to avian vets in our area. -
Eck... Poor you guys! I just hate bugs. My little yorkie ran in a goat shed once and got infested with fleas, it looked like her total body weight again in fleas. The worst was giving her the flea bath and they all ran up her head and jumped on me. Funny now but not funny then I can tell you. I hope you get it sorted good luck! It makes me all itchy just thinking about it.

Hi Have a look at this web site: they have a 24 hour help line and they might have a vet in your area! http://www.freewebs.com/parrotsuk/index.htm Hope everything works out for you. Please let us know. -
Mine started with about 4 months. Makes kissing noises like my husband and can almost say I love you...
-
Glad to hear that you are enjoying the harness. I just love mine. I took Ying Mo out the other day and he got scared by a passing car, but settled down right away. I haven't taken him out the last few days though as it has just been to baking hot....he will just have to fly around it the house in the meantime

Well actually, there are a couple of questions; what rate does the body lose heat in X temperatures of water. I would imagine that there is a x-y formula here...which is more like what I was looking for. If you can calculate that you die in ice cold water in a matter of minutes then you should equally be able to calculate how long it takes in warmer water. I would imagine that you could even establish whether the rate at which you lose heat would be negative and you might just die of exhaustion. So figure that out people B)

Hi, my group of friends and I are always coming up with dumb questions that we can't figure out. Maybe someone out there wants help us answer them. The current question is : How long would it take to die of hyperthermia in pool water that is about 28C?:silly:

I agree with what everyone has said, you really still need to check it out withyour credit card company, normally the have insurance and then your shippement costs would be covered! I have done it before with a massage table.
-
Hi, I have to say that I agree with all the good tips from everyone, but this bird looks in terrible condition not to mention his cage. These people should be happy to GIVE you the bird! Sorry but where I come from, the animal rescue should have been informed of the state of this bird and cage. Sorry but that is really how I see it.

I have been making mosaics and I find you need much less space and you can still make beautiful images. And no fumes. I have just finished a seahorse with star fish. I collected old bits of roman pottery that I found in Spain to make it. I am planning to do a CAG in the same style, based on a drawing that I have now seen a couple of times. One on the members here uses it, a CAG sitting with one wing up. I better get searching for some nice gray pieces....
