  1. It was really easy to name Nikko, she already had her name when I adopted her . When we had her DNA sexed and found out she was a female, I considered changing it to a more girlie name (Izzy), but ended up sticking with name she knew for 4 years.
  2. I PM'd the guy to ask how much he wants for his little one. I wonder what Nikko would think of a little TAG brother? Of course, convincing my parents is a whole other story. My dad is not exactly bird friendly. Luckily, Nikko is such a sweetie it hasn't been a problem. Oh, and the little sweetie is adorable . He's got the cute little red speckles on his lower body and legs and those big dark baby eyes. I sure wish I could bring him home! EDIT: I was looking at the guys previous posts, and had some videos on YouTube of his TAG. It sure would be nice of one of us could adopt him, he seems like a realy nice bird!<br><br>Post edited by: spookyhurst, at: 2007/05/17 09:55
  3. There's a little Pomeranian (Shim) at the park that is in love with Nikko. When he sees me coming, he runs over to see if I have her with me (I bring her in an Adventure Pack). Shim does this cute little dance until I put the cage down so he can look. Nikko is very tolerant of Shim. I guess she can sense that he is a gentle soul . Chinese Cresteds can be so cute, but can also be so ugly. Have you ever heard of the Ugliest Dog competition? There are always several Cresteds in contention. Here's a link to last years contenders: http://www.sonoma-marinfair.org/uglydogvote.shtml My dream dog is an Italian Greyhound. There's one at the park (Otis) that I'm head over heals for. He feels like velvet.
  4. Monique, I have a 9 year old Shih Tzu named Spencer. He's a good little guy, but a bit moody. He never quite recovered from Nikko moving in, and spends way too much time hiding in my parents bedroom to get away from her. They're quite jealous of each other. Also, you have got to get Guitar Hero 2. It is so much fun to have one person play bass and one person play lead! Judy, I like Stephen King's novels, but not the movies. They're too scary, and I'm prone to an overactive imagination and nightmares . My favorite book by him is The Talisman, and Black House was pretty good too. I also like the book of short stories that had Apt Pupil, Stand By Me, and the Shawshank Redemption in it. Okay, I need to take back that I don't watch his movies, because I saw all 3 of those and The Green Mile. I just avoid the creepy ones, like the one with the killer clown *hides under bed*.
  5. I'm afraid my workout is the same as Judy's, and I also exercise my thumbs by playing video games. I live in a retirement community with my parents . It has 4 rec centers which offer about everything you could possibly want to do. One of them is within walking distance of our house, and has 3 swimming pools, 3 spas, a walking track, tennis courts, and a room with a ton of exercise equipment. The other 3 rec centers have things like bowling, miniature golf, racquetball, etc. I have a rec card that costs about $200 a year for unlimited usage of these facilities. Want to guess how much I use it? I play pool a couple of times a month and I take my dog to the dog park. I love to swim (although I'm not very good because I never took lessons), yet I can't remember the last time I went swimming. Someone needs to kick me in the butt for not taking advantage of all this stuff. My mom is very fit and works out at least 6 days a week. My dad frequents the walking track quite a bit too.
  6. They look so sweet and innocent at that age! What an adorable baby .
  7. Video games! I love them! I just finished playing Cooking Mama on the Wii, and will start Bully on the PS2 once it gets here (I have a GameFly subscription). I'm also playing Phoenix Wright on the DS, and play the Sims a bit. I just finished setting up a little home theatre, so gaming (and movie watching) has gotten pretty good. I used to have a driving wheel for the PS2, but I'm kind of lazy about getting out peripherals, and am low on space, so I ended up getting rid of it. Behind the couch, I've hidden 2 Guitar Hero guitars, 3 Dance Dance Revolution mats, 2 Taiko Drum Master drums, and 3 Donkey Konga congos. There is simply no more room back there . Other than games, I like to read (books on animation, mystery novels, video game magazines), listen to music (because I kind of suck at playing it), play with dogs (I take my dog to the dog park a lot), and numerous other little hobbies .
  8. Brian sounds like a real sweetie . I wish I would have known Nikko back when she was just a little one.
  9. Nikko starts off everyday with a spoonful of my mom's oatmeal. She puts soy milk and flax seed in it. Our vet said Nikko had some of the most beautiful feathers he has seen on a grey, and I think the flax seed might be to thank for that. Nikko also likes Cheerios and Grapenuts, and as a treat, I'll let her have a piece or two of Peanut Butter Captain Crunch .
  10. I was getting rid of some old DVD towers recently and had them temporarily sitting by a coffee table. Nikko walked over and started climbing up and down and all around, which spurred me to believe she would really like a cargo net. I ordered some Supreme Cotton Rope, which is 100% natural, digestible, and unpolished (which means the threads will easily pull apart if a toe gets caught in it) and now just need to start tying knots .
  11. I just wanted to say hi and introduce my grey (a Timneh) to everyone. Nikko and I live in the Phoenix metro area (it's a 100 degrees here today {Feel-bad-000200A3}). She is 5 or 6 years old. She was 4 when I adopted her in October, 2005, but I don't know her exact hatch date. Nikko came from Tucson Avian Rescue and Adoption (I highly recommend them if you're looking to add a bird to your family). Our vet calls her a princess, which is a perfect description. She's a dainty little thing and prefers to play quietly with a foot toy rather than get wild and crazy on a boing. This looks like a very nice forum, and we look forward to meeting all of you .
