  1. I think Tari said it best, if you get another bird, see to it the other one still gets the same amount of attention they are used to getting. If you want another bird, I say go for it, but do not be disappointed if they don't get along, but if they do then you are surely blessed.
  2. I did so too go see my son and granddaughters, you calling me a liar, Joe? But those crazy women in Japan weigh 400 pounds and have such calloused feet that they scratch your back side in shreds and your blood spills all over the table. I wish Joe would stop corrupting my wishes.
  3. I'm glad Dan explained it, I knew he would do it better than I could. If you observe your grey you will get to know the difference in fluffing up in happiness and fluffing up when mad. Thanks Dan.
  4. Well if she is 5 years old and still cuddly then she will more than likely continue to be that way. But you do need to work on the stepping up, she needs to learn she has to do that when you ask, for the day may come that someone else has to get her to do it. Sounds like she is running the show and maybe you need to assert a little more authority over her, don't want her thinking she is boss. Yours is the first grey I have heard that likes to be scooped up with both hands rather than come onto your hand. If I tried that with Josey she would balk I'm sure. Just keep doing what you are doing, it just takes time, so don't give up, patience is your best friend.
  5. But those crazy women have cleats on their feet and you are punctured with holes from head to toe and when you drink water it pours out the holes. I wish I was relaxing on a beach, the sun shining, gentle breeze blowing, water so blue and clear you could see thru it, margarita on ice in my hand and that handsome hunk by my side again.
  6. Joe, you win hands down, thanks for the laugh and karma for you.
  7. Hello and welcome to the family of grey owners, Serenity, glad you could introduce yourself and tell us more about you. You won't find a more helpful bunch of people than you will find here and any of us is willing to help you in any way we can. You do have other birds so you have experience and the grey sounds like a real sweetheart, you do have a rare gem that likes cuddling, because most don't after maturing. Please post a photo if you have one we would love to see Tiki, and your other birds as well.
  8. Yes it does, Tracy, and may I say that you are a good moderator, you are on the ball and doing a fine job.
  9. Congrats, CeasarDad, your Sonny won over my Sunny and Cujo won over my Sunny also, but I don't mind losing to two of the nicest and cutest men on the forum. You two did have the prettiest birdies in this contest, maybe another contest I will have better luck.
  10. Very nice stand Mark, and you got a bargain for $25, most online places want a lot more for similar ones. Really not much to them, its just getting the proper wood and putting it together, but with our busy lives sometimes it is just as well to pay for someone else to make and then buy. Thanks for sharing these photos with us to give us an idea of what we could make for our greys.
  11. Leave it to Joe to think about greys with tongue piercings like that would ever happen. Ten lashes with a wet noodle for even thinking of the idea.
  12. You are so right, Spooky, cockatoos are cuddlers, thats why they call them velcro birds, but it too may not be the right choice if she has not had experience with birds before.
  13. Thanks for the lovely photos, Kristin, you certainly do have a lovely grey, will look great in the new video.
  14. Yes she is and macaroni is a cute name, does she like to eat macaroni or you just liked that name?
  15. Molly, why did you get the grey when you have no time for it, you did not think this thru before you plunged in and got it. How sad for the grey that now it has to go to another home, these birds do not rehome easily. If you really love this bird you will do whatever it takes to find it a good loving home where it will spend the rest of its life. I don't mean to come down on you but if people would research properly before getting these birds maybe it wouldn't be so many of them wind up in rescues and needing new homes. I hope you do find a new home for this grey but make sure they know what they are getting themselves into.
  16. nevjoe wrote: Joe, you make me laugh with your humor, and I love it. It sounds more like jibberish, thats what Josey did to start with and then the words came out clearer. She says more words now and she even carries on a conversation with you sometimes. I took her with me over the weekend to visit my son out of state and she did not utter a word, but a half hour down the road home, she started up again going over her collection of words and sounds.
  17. Josey fluffs when she is happy, but she also does a different kind of fluff when my hubby comes close to her and tries to pet her, it is different but hard to describe, but I can tell the difference.
  18. Yep Mark, looks exactly like Josey's eyes, and they are about the same age, Josey being at 15 months of age. Great looking photos too, thanks for sharing them with us.
  19. I love it Tracy, you made me smile this evening for the first time since I have come home, and I love you for that, keep em coming, I need all I can get.
  20. Josey will hardly touch tomatoes, and some of the other veggies she will eat one day and not touch another. But like Laurie found out, garden tomatoes are the best, not like the rubber balls available year round.
  21. Hi Sophie, the fact that you question whether you should get this bird tells me that probably you shouldn't. This bird does come with baggage that you may not be able to overcome and I would hate to see it have to go on to even another home. If you have never had a grey before or especially if you have never had any kind of bird, don't get this one, opt for a baby grey. But a lot of them do not like to be cuddled especially after they mature, some don't like to be touched much at all. I commend you for wanting to give this grey a home but you must have the bird's best interest at heart here and if you have doubts, then it may be best that someone who has experience with rehomes take this grey. But whatever you decide to do, please keep us informed and if you do take it, we will help you any way we can.
  22. Hello and welcome to the family, Laura, so glad you joined our group. You will find lots of helpful information in our threads and people who are willing to help you in any way we can. You have had your grey since March 2004, how old is he, did you get him as a baby and what is his name? Lovemygreys gave you a good link to good food for our greys and if you have any specific questions please feel free to ask us anything, we will do our best to get you an answer. If you have a photo of your grey you would like to post please do, we love to look at pictures.
  23. Thanks Dave, I posted my question the same time you posted the answer.
  24. Dave, thanks for the wonderful idea with pvc pipe to make a stand for our birds. You certainly have some excellent ideas and helpful information, you are a valued member here I can tell you that. What kind of rope did you use and how did you get it to stay put?
