  1. You got that right, BMustee, her vulgarity spoiled the pot.
  2. Wow, just when we thought it was safe for our greys to consume peanuts, we get shot down again, now I don't know what to do. Darned if you do and darned if you don't.
  3. I've only heard the dang skippy, but I could tell you a lot of other expressions, but this is a family forum, you know.
  4. The only thing about keeping peanuts in the shell around, my hubby eats them all in no time, he can't leave a nut alone.
  5. I want a lot, Joe and don't you wish you had my email address. But your copy is written in pig latin and you don't understand a word of it. I wish I could swim like a fish, dance like Baby in "Dirty Dancing" and eat like a pig and not gain an ounce of extra fat.
  6. I guess Toni forgot in her excitement over Joe, so I will continue it. I wish I would go home this afternoon and find some good emails.

    My Grey

I know Josey makes some sounds I have not identified yet, but I am working on it. She does my laugh very well and you should hear it, it is just like if I did it.
  8. My sun conure does that too, BMustee, and she regurgitates for me also, in fact Sunday evening when I brought her home after I had been away for a few days, she did it on the way home and slung it all over the inside of my Jeep, what a mess.
  9. I guess because I have kept peanuts away from Josey so far, she doesn't care for them, at least for the moment, I will try them again, and I know only human grade ones.
  10. You got that right, Bmustee, gives "made in China" a whole new meaning.
  11. Yah, then we will hear about it tomorrow, I can't wait. I know you are going to love this conure.
  12. Oh very cute, Dan, you did a good job with that one.
  13. My Josey is 15 months old and she still eats a hot oatmeal and baby food breakfast and as long as he enjoys it I will continue for her lifetime. I do cover Josey's cage since she is in the family room and we are up later, so I don't know if she wakes up during that time before we go to bed or not, but I don't hear anything out of her so I assume she is asleep. I think if they are in a room that people are up in after they go down for the night it is best to cover them. I wouldn't worry about a night light, I don't have any kind of light on and I live in the country so there is no street lights either, it is dark.
  14. I cannot add anything that has not already been posted but keep us informed what you try and how it works so we will know if it happens to any of ours.
  15. xxbeccyxx wrote: Thanks Beccy but I won't call you that anymore, Dan thought he had gotten one over on me, but I am too smart for that. Some people don't like it quiet and that is you, I usually have a TV or radio on when I am home alone, like I am now for a week, hubby in Germany, wonder if they would like to keep him.
  16. Do you have one for a TV or other electronic device that you no longer use, then just take the batteries out and let him have that. I have a one year old granddaughter and she likes the remotes so they gave her one for a TV that doesn't work anymore and she loves to play with that. Also check out baby toys for phones that Herbie could play with.

Congrats, Toni, he said his first word, and at a young age too. I know it is frustrating to have to continue to wait but it will be over soon and you will have him home. Just hang in there and remember good things come to those who wait. I also love your signature, and how true.
  18. Hello, Kareena, and welcome to the family. Yes greys need a lot of attention but what you are giving him sounds like it is enough. I leave mine alone in her cage from 7:45 am until 4:30 pm and sometimes a little later and she is ok with that. I leave a radio on and she has toys to occupy her time. She comes out after I get home and plays on her playtop and I have her on my shoulder some also for some one on one time. Do you cover the cage at night? How do you know she wakes up in the night? I cover Josey's cage at night and I don't hear anything out of her until morning. Of course she does not sleep in my bedroom, she is in her cage in the family room, so I wouldn't hear her anyways. Sounds like you have worked out a pretty good routine and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask us anything. The breeder should not have sold you a bird that was not weaned, and a 2 month, 2 week old was too young to be weaned, but if he is doing fine then it worked out for the best.
  19. I think you are playing with fire, Joe, what happens one day when something startles them and they fly up into a tree and you can't reach them or get them in your net, then what? Personally I wouldn't want to take that chance, even with clipped wings. How many times have we said here that frightened clipped birds can fly enough to get away from you.
  20. I wouldn't take mine outside without being either in a cage or on some type of harness. I guess some sunlight would do them good.
  21. I hate to admit it but the man is right, they do come from the congo, duh, somebody turn on the light bulb in my head, I am in the dark. Its been in the 90's here in VA also with high humidity, but we did get a little rain today and slightly cooler temps.
  22. Dan, it is just another expression for saying, "you're darn right", or "darn tooten", or "you're dam* right, you get the message. I don't know whether it is a southern thing or not, but my daughter says it a lot and now I have picked it up. I didn't mean to drive you crazy, Dan, are you sure you weren't already that way!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
  23. It does look like a salad that is good enough to eat.
  24. You are so right, Barbara, and it is not any worse than the things we have to do sometimes to protect our own health, like giving a urine sample to run tests on. The poop shows us a lot about how well our grey is and it pays to be alert to any changes. I'm sorry to hear you had a case of egg binding but glad you found out about it and saved her life.
  25. Sounds like a great idea, Joe, I will try that, but it has been so hot here lately that I thought they would prefer to stay inside where it is cool, so I did.
