Dan is so right, they have different relationships with each person, and although Dayo has chosen Kim as his favorite, he still loves and enjoys his time with Dan, just in a different way.

Two weeks is not long enough to be chosen as the favored one, but he obviously is more taken in by your wife at this point but it may not stay that way. Just keep interacting and doing what you are doing now and time will tell. Thanks from me for rehoming an older grey, we have too many in need of new homes.

Josey loves yams or sweet potatoes as they call them also, and she had them all over her beak too and flung them everywhere but I won't stop giving them to her just because she made a mess, I would have to stop giving her food alltogether if that were the case.

Loviechick gave you some very good answers, all in all a very informative post, I even learned some things. My Josey does the flapping wings also but she usually does it when she gets on top of the cage.

Brendon, I agree with LMG, if you want two then get two from the same clutch, if not from the same clutch then go with one. Hers do get along but a lot of times two from different clutches do not so be prepared for that possibility. She is also right on the possibility of them breeding together later, they need the proper conditions for that and as pets in all likelihood that would not happen. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about yourself.

Hello and welcome to the family, Marg, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Giz, thats an unusual name, how did you come up with it. I can't help you with your cage but I can recommend reading thru our many threads on various topics for lots of useful information. If you have any specific questions you would like to ask please do, we will do our best to get you an answer and help you in any way we can. Since Giz is 3 years old, how did you come to acquire her and why was she given up, I ask for it helps to get to know you better to know more about your grey. Believe me, they are all messy eaters and even the seed guards don't catch it all, but it helps. If you have a picture of Giz you would like to post, we would love to see her.

Hello and welcome to the family, Jody, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey you are planning to get. I am sorry about your blindness but sure you can handle a grey as I am sure you do handle a lot of things, just in slightly different ways. You are doing the right thing in reading up on all the material you can get and please do read thru our many threads for useful information. If you have any specific questions you would like to ask we will do our best to get you an answer and help you in any way we can. That was a wonderful introduction and I already feel like I know you and I am sure you are going to make a good parront to a grey. I look forward to seeing the picture of Maui, and that is a lovely name by the way. -
Yes by all means take her with you, if you enjoy it so will she, and this will help socialize her, what a wonderful opportunity to do just that. Make sure she gets a little turkey, she will enjoy that too.

That is probably your answer, when you were home recovering you spent a lot of time with them and when you returned it caused stress from lack of companionship and she started to chew then pluck her feathers. Angie is just a little more sensitive to the amount of time spent with her and Josie is more laid back, hence it did not affect her. I also use the aloe vera juice undiluted.

You reckon Dan.B) I voted clipped but I am allowing Josey's wing feathers to grow out.

Yes you have, 3 birds in a short time span with one of them being a grey, yes you have taken on quite a handful. As Tari said, patience is key, don't rush anything, it takes time to build the trust that bonding is based on. You need to sit by their cages and talk to them, read the newspaper out loud to them and speak softly and it will go a long way in getting them used to you. The two ringnecks might bond to each other and not to you, that is a possibility. The grey may well pick up the screaming, Josey, my grey can scream like my sun conure and she also picked up a cockatoo's scream for a while after being kept at a breeders house while we vacationed. But I think in time the screaming will lesson as they get used to you and having you around, just be patient, all good things come to those who wait.

Sorry Tracy that you have had a bad week, I had a bad day yesterday, but I won't elaborate on it. It is true that sometimes it comes in threes and heres hoping you are thru with it. Glad to have you back.

Hello and welcome to the family, Logan, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey you are planning to get. You are right, greys are awesome creatures and you will not be disappointed by choosing one. Yes you can take a mature older grey and bond with it the same as a young one, it usually takes longer so you will have to be very patient and allow it time to get to trust you so the bonding process can take place. You need to read as many of our threads here as you can for lots of useful information, you may ask any specific questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I think you have the right attitude to be bringing home an older grey, not everyone can take a bird with baggage and love it as it deserves to be loved and cared for. After you pick up this grey, please post a photo so we can see your new member of the flock, and good luck to you for undertaking a new business.

Thats telling her Pat, at least it was not a case of her escaping from her cage and then you trying to find a way to keep her from escaping again. Thanks for clarifying that for us.

Please overload, we love photos, and you have got some lovely ones. Thats a cute one of Kali taking a bath, and they do love a head scratch don't they. I just love the color of Cello, he sure is a cute little fellow, and Pepper is a lovely bird also, and what a shame she had to endure such conditions but she sure looks contented now. Thanks Reta for sharing these pictures with us, you have a wonderful looking flock there in Mexico.
-
Ok if you say so, Joe, but I don't want to hear that one of them has flown away, it would break your heart and mine too.
-
Well I am sure she will get over it and be back to her lovely self in good time, she knows you love her and they can get pissed off just like we can. Glad to hear the olive oil worked, but did you try the peanut butter, just curious.
-
Your guys do look like they had a good time, but it does make me uncomfortable with those two not on some kind of harness or leash, if they would be spooked it could be the last you saw of them. That new tiel is a cutie too and it looks like it is enjoying one of your playgyms.
-
Yeah he needs to feel more comfortable in his new home but if he starts to bite don't hesitate to use the tactics to stop him, he is not too young to learn.
-
Two beautiful looking greys, Shazbaby, thanks so much for sharing them with us. And it does look as if Barney is trying to get fed by Freddie.
-
If he bites really hard tell him no and put him back in his cage and turn your back on him, they don't like that. Then in 10 to 15 minutes later get him out again and if he does it again do the cage and ignore thing again, he will begin to associate the bite with the word no and being ignored.
-
Janie you go for it, girl.

I had a nice day for a walk, hi temperature was low 60's, was a little warmer than yesterday.
