  1. You are so right about its like having a baby again but without the diapers, instead of having to change smelly diapers we are going around and cleaning up the poop dropped all over the place.
  2. Hello Aaron and welcome to the family, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey you are getting. So will this be your first parrot you have owned? You grew up with a grey so you at least know something about them but you are aware they are a big committment and will live a long time. Please read thru the many threads on various topics for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask specific questions you may have. We will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. I hope you do get some pictures of the babies and post them for all of us to see and admire, we love to look at the babies, they are so adorable.
  3. Thank god its Friday, I love weekends for I can spend more time with Josey and Sunny. Don't have too busy a weekend planned but it will turn colder on Sunday so I might spend it around a fire.
  4. Hello Mike and welcome to the family, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Rascal, what a name for a grey and I bet he lives up to it too. I can relate to her not wanting anything to do with the breeding males, she just did not want any part of their shenigans, besides she is better off being a pet who is loved and adored for being just herself. You will gather lots of useful information by reading thru the threads here on this forum, we have a lot of knowledgeable people who enjoy sharing what they know. Do not hesitate to ask specific questions you may have, we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Rascal you would like to share with us we would love to see her.
  5. I think she is displaying some sexual behavior, being 10 years old she is certainly old enough to be wanting to mate. She is viewing the toy as something she wants to vent her sexual frustrations on. I would discourage this as much as possible as it will only stress her out. Remove the toys from that particular spot and see if she ceases the behavior. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and this grey.
  6. Yes you do have to keep offering them every day, the first of the day when she is most hungry. I am glad she is doing better interacting with you and it does take time so be patient with her. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and Beekers.
  7. Thanks BMustee for that great link to safe and unsafe wood and plants.
  8. Well I weighed in today at Curves, did not lose as much as I would have liked but I lost another 4 lbs and another 3 inches off of me in a month's time, a slower loss but I am told that at this rate I have a better chance of keeping it off. But I did reach one of my goals I set for myself and I have more to go, small steps.
  9. I look forward to seeing more pictures of Skye when you get them.
  10. Be sure to share some more pictures of Codi when you take some, we like to see the babies grow up.
  11. You nailed it this time Ladybug and thanks for sharing it with us, it is amazing how far she has come.
  12. Thanks Shamelessmuse, I thought we had a member in Atlanta but wasn't sure who it was, you are a doll.
  13. She is just trying to take a bath, Josey does the same thing in her water bowl but if I put a larger bowl in the bottom of the cage she ignores it. She will fling water all over the place trying to get herself wet in the smaller bowl but if I take her in to the bathroom and try to bathe her she protests, go figure.
  14. He might be starting thru a molt and if he is it is probably itching him and he is scratching at it. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
  15. Thanks Alfie for the update on Alfie the grey at the vet visit. Sorry you were the one with the blood drawn but some are difficult to clip and you didn't want to stress him out. Try offering him lots of fresh veggies, lots of leafy green ones and dark yellow ones, he does need to be off so much seed. He may not eat them at first but keep offering them and one day he will try some and start eating them. Also try offering him some good quality pellets to supplement his diet. Be sure he has some rough perches in his cage to use they will help keep the talons filed down, put them where he is likely to use them.
  16. Its my favorite of the ones that rotate on that front page of the site, sure is a cute picture and brings a smile to my face when I see it. :)
  17. Hello Justin and welcome to the family, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey yo are getting. So Cinco is about 4 years old and can say his name, he should be able to say a lot more words and phrases, maybe the situation he is in now prevents him from expressing himself more. You should be able to teach him lots of new words and phrases, he just needs to feel comfortable in his new home and have lots of interaction with him. He probably will like getting out more but don't push him for more than he is comfortable with so he does not stress out over it. Being older he is more set in his ways and it will take time and lots of patience to work with him but the rewards will be great. When you go to touch him and he puffs up and turns his head up to see what you are doing he is not comfortable with it and may bite. Give him some space and let him settle down some, he does not trust you yet. Please read thru the many threads on various topics for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask specific questions you may have. We will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures of Cinco you would like to share with us we would love to see him.

I especially loved the one that kept flinging the ball out of the hand, that was hilarious to watch, thanks Tari.

Thanks so much Tari for sharing that with us, that little budgie sure could grab ahold of the wheel and pull it toward him, I laughed so hard watching him do that.
  21. I'm glad you got to bring her with you especially since it is a long term thing. Why don't you search the internet for such places in Atlanta or look in the phone book yellow pages for places.
  22. Don't be such a worry wart Tari, if these problems develop with your birds that is something to deal with if and when it happens not before, enjoy life more, you will be better for it.
  23. Charabeln, your grey is about the age where she is becoming sexually mature, as she has already shown mating behavior toward your husband, this is to be avoided if at all possible. Ignore or distract her when she starts this behavior, you don't want to encourage it, it will only frustrate her and make it worse. She probably views your husband as her mate and that is why she is more agressive towards you, you are competition for her for the affections of your husband. If you have lost some confidence in handling her I am sure she has picked up on that and that is not helping the situation any as you mentioned. If she is going to areas that she never frequented before she may be looking for a site for a nest. I know I may not be of much help to you, my grey is just 20 months old and has a ways to go before this maturity thing comes into play but we do have other members who can shed more light on this than I and they will chime in soon. I see this is your first post, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and this grey.
  24. Thats great Tari, see you worried for nothing:P
  25. You are doing great and lots of patience is just what you need, give him lots of time, he may always favor the bf but you can still have a good relationship with him also. I am excited for you and no one but a bird lover can know the joy we feel. I would look online for travel cages, thats where I got mine, just google for it.
