  1. I would advise yearly checkups, that way the vet can compare each time they see your grey with the previous time and identify any changes or areas that may need some attention and catch something that needs taken care of, a well bird exam.
  2. I wouldn't wake him up to feed him, after the last feed for the day let him sleep thru the night and feed him the first thing in the morning. Have you read thru a lot of the threads in the nursery room? You will find a lot of information about feeding baby greys there and LovemyGreys is an expert on the subject so she is your best source of advice.
  3. Mick, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and Jake.
  4. Welcome back from Vegas, Spence, hope you didn't lose all your money:S :whistle: :laugh: I really don't have an idea on #1 About #2, I don't think she is really growling, believe me if she was growling you would not be able to mistake it. She is probably doing the same sound that Josey does, not exactly sure what it means but she isn't mad or scared. She probably is trying to taste you, Josey will use her tongue sometimes, mostly on my skin and I think she is just wanting to get a taste or feel, they have no hands so they use their tongue instead. Parrots body temperatures are slightly higher than ours and their feet can feel hot but I don't think it is anything to worry about. You feel the heat more in their feet because you are touching skin directly whereas the rest of the body is covered with feathers. Hope this helps you some and others will chime in with their opinions.

    Crackers

    Jen that is such a touching tribute to Crackers and I am so sorry for your loss but yes he has both wings now and he can see clear as day. I am sure he knew you loved him very much and you will see him once again some day in all his glory. Thanks Jen for sharing your loss with us.
  6. Gina you have some beautiful birds and I especially love the ones of Cabo, he does look quite the character doesn't he, thanks so much for sharing your fids with us. B)
  7. You are lucky that April accepted your painted fingernails for Josey did not accept mine, I don't normally wear polish but one day I did and she didn't want nothing to do with those hands. They do notice everything, not much escapes their vision.:cheer: :whistle:
  8. Congrats on the egg and hope there are a few more and fertile too, this is unusual for her to settle in so quickly and get down to business. Please keep us updated on the progress as you have piqued our curiousity.
  9. Hello Jason and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Ernie. It usually doesn't take long for the young ones to learn the ins and outs of their cage and he will be more proficient as time goes on. Yes they are very smart, amazing creatures they are and want nothing better than to share their time with you, so sounds like he is bonding with you already. He will probably go thru a period of gibberish, thats what I call it, there will be no discernable words but just all kinds of sounds that eventually will turn into words and phrases. Give him lots of time to start talking, mine didn't start saying words until she was 1 year old. Continue to read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Ernie you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
  10. Oh boy, we got the joke thread going again and with some good ones too, thanks Dave and Janet for making my evening so much more enjoyable, keep em coming!!! {Feel-good-0002006E}
  11. She is lovely Melisa and she is craning her neck trying to figure out what that camera is doing, mommy is very proud and rightly so, thanks for sharing her with us.
  12. Linda, one word of caution, always rinse the popsicle stick thoroughly before giving to Maxi to get any saliva you have left behind on that stick.
  13. I got a travel cage similar to the one in the post by Poppy from the country roost website and it was $49, after I get home I will find the exact site and put the link in for you. Well I just checked and the same cage is now $59 but here is the link if you want to check it out. http://www.thecountryroost.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=28_29&osCsid=cec5f2e6b421b349eb3102d7b041745d<br><br>Post edited by: judygram, at: 2008/10/01 05:03

  16. Hello Charmain and welcome to the family, so glad you have decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey. You don't tell us much about yourself so why don't you tell us what the name of your grey is, Tag or Cag, how old, how long have you had it and do you know he sex? For lots of useful information please read thru the many threads and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Would love to see some pictures of this grey of yours if you would like to share some with us.
  17. ZZero is adorable and he looks very inquisitive and seems to be settling in nicely. He is a good looking grey and I know you are going to enjoy him immensely, thanks for sharing these pics with us:)
  18. Hello Diane and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Polly. If you are getting information from Dave then you are getting the best advice there is, he has both pet and breeding greys and he is full of knowledge. I use the aloe vera juice straight from the jug, I put it in a spray bottle and give my grey a shower with it, makes the feathers nice and soft. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Polly you would share with us, we would love to see them.
  19. Erika, Bird Times may have less ads than Bird Talk magazine but the centerfold is to die for:whistle: they usually feature one species of bird and the color photos are gorgeous to behold.:lol:
  20. Hello Laws and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Obi. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
