  1. You don't need fancy equipment to sprout seeds, really a mason jar is the basic necessity but it seems like there is always someone who markets some fancy contraption at a fancy price to do a simple task.
  2. OMG, I have left all the raisins in for Josey when I use that little mini size, I tuck one inside a toilet paper roll and crimp the edges to hold it and she tears it up in no time flat, I think most all of the raisins fall into the tray when she rips into it.
  3. My granddaughter has a black cat, it is so sleek and so black she shines, she calls her Boo.
  4. That is too funny, Josey has never tried to chew on any of my shoes, mainly because I have an aversion to wearing shoes at home but that could potentially be a big problem if he gets to your good shoes and chews them all up.
  5. I allow Josey to tear them up, makes great toys and a greyt mess but then thats what they like to do. I think it is safe to say that if Dave has been giving them to his greys for years then they are safe enough for he would know if they weren't, I put my full trust in him.
  6. Thanks for sharing that video with us, you have such a sweet looking grey.
  7. Hello Brian and welcome to our family, so pleased you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey you want to get. You are right, greys do not take to change very easily but that doesn't mean you cannot make it work. Starting off with a newly weaned bird will make it easier for him/her to adjust to a ever changing schedule. I work full time but it is the same week to week but then there are times I have to be gone for the day and such and Josey is ok with it. I think as long as you make it quality time and not think so much about the quantity. Do read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Try this site for breeders in your area: www.avianbiotech.com you can do a search by state and/or species.
  8. Happy Hatchday Rexxy!!
  9. Hello Delta and welcome to our family, we are so pleased you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Solo, Ivy and the rest of your flock. Sometimes young birds can be found in rescues because someone bought one on a whim and then found out they either couldn't handle it or they don't know how to properly take care of it, so sad when people don't do their homework before buying a pretty bird. It is always wonderful to hear when someone takes in a handicapped bird as they would never be chosen by the average person looking for a bird and because it may need special care it is not for just anyone, you certainly have a big heart. We do have a wealth of information in our many threads so do read thru them when you get a chance and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Thanks for providing some pics of your flock, you have some very pretty birds.
  10. Hello Jaqfash and welcome to our family, we are so pleased you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey. Pat and Caitlin have provided some helpful info and links to to help you with this unweaned baby but you should not have purchased an unweaned baby especially ifyou have no experience with it, so much can go wrong. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads as you are already finding out so continue to read them and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Welove pictures here and especially of baby greys so if you have some you would share with us we would appreciate it very much.
  11. Tony Blair became the youngest British prime minister of the 20th century when he took office in 1997. He stepped down as the prime minister on 27 June 2007 and was succeeded by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown.
  12. Today is May 6 and it is my son's birthday, Greg is 37 years old and he is my baby. Happy Birthday son, I love you.
  13. You should post that one pic in the thread about messy beaks, it certainly qualifies for messy, he is a big boy isn't he, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  14. Here is a photo of Isa, Sarah's little black kitten she is taking care of, just a little black bundle of fur. Sarah was having trouble with posting a pic so she sent it to me and I am posting it for her.
  15. Thanks for letting us know Bonnie, moves can be very traumatic for greys but you obviously handled it very well so Pogo adjusted well to it.
  16. My what a big puppy and you two look so good together, thanks for sharing that with us.
  17. Me too, long time kitty lover, would you share a pic of this kitten with us Sarah?
  18. Hello Dawn and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Clyde. I am so happy to hear you have rescued this grey from the environment he was in, the poor thing having to live like that but he will think now that he has died and gone to heaven with all the attention and love he is going to get. Thats great you already have a vet appointment set up and I hope he has no health issues but it sounds like he may have some respiratory problems, be sure to let us know what you find out. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Thanks for sharing some pictures of Clyde with us and of the other members of your pet family but I look forward to seeing more of Clyde when you can get us some more.
  19. Party Pooper:ohmy:
  20. Josey spends some time on my shoulder but as far as I can recollect, she has never bitten anyone. She used to not much like my hubby but she is starting to warm up some to him, she is even giving him kisses now.
  21. Hello Tanya and welcome to the family, so glad you could finally come in out of the IM window and join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Phoebe. I know you are having trouble with her plucking but she has lost her former owner who she was probably bonded to and then she has been in several more homes since before coming to you. Please give her more time to get more used to you and feel comfortable, she has been thru a lot and no wonder she has taken to plucking. Since she is around 5 years of age this will take time and much patience on your part, you cannot rush this process. She has to feel comfortable to begin to trust you for at this point in time she probably thinks this is just another stop on the way elsewhere so allow her to do this in her own time. Do not focus too much on her plucking, if you do she may take that as encouragement to continue further with it, just ignore it for I think it has a lot to do with being moved around and the loss of her bonded person. There are many knowledgeable members here who have experience with greys that pluck and hopefully some of them will chime in with their ideas and suggestions. You will also find lots of useful information in our many threads and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of Phoebe you would share with us, plucked or not plucked, we can see the beauty in her, we would appreciate it.
  22. Those are good pictures of Brad and Dave, having a wonderful time with those birds, thanks for sharing them with us.
  23. One word of caution about the cats, the claws are not the only thing you have to be careful about with the cats, if the cat gets its mouth on the grey and breaks the skin then bacteria will get in and it could prove fatal for the grey. They have bacteria in their saliva that can make your grey very sick or even kill it so be careful with the cats getting too close to Sydney.
