  1. Hello Marc and welcome to our family. Pepper is a good looking Cag and he probably shares a similar temperament to some of us humans as we all have our good days and our bad days so just go with the flow. He was approximately 5 years old when you got him so he had already developed some habits or characteristics that may be playing a role in how he deals with each day one way or another and I doubt there is much you can do about it but provide him with what he needs and from what you have described he is getting that and more. One thing I will mention is some greys if they don't get enough sleep they can be cranky so be sure he goes to bed early enough for him to get at least 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night.
  2. Hello Muse and welcome to our family. Wow you have quite the flock and they must keep you busy, would love to see some pictures of all your fids if you would so indulge us.
  3. He is a beautiful baby even if he isn't a grey, love that green color and I bet he is so soft, 4 months and counting.
  4. Poor little Piper, hope you find out what is going on and get him on the road to recovery, I am sure you are hurting as much or more than he is, be sure to let us know what you find out.
  5. Happy Hatchday Talon, may you have many many more to come.
  6. The world is full of gullible people, I bet some of those people didn't sleep that night, thanks for sharing that with us.
  7. Hello Mightymous and welcome to our family. Most of us would agree that its better to start with a smaller type bird but if you do your research and can provide what is needed to make your bird healthy and happy then by all means get your grey when you are ready. I started out with a sun conure then added my grey, you just have to know what you are getting into and if you read, read and read some more then you will be about as prepared as you can get without actual experience. Dave made an excellent thread on this very subject.
  8. I wonder how many people especially men never notice the dog driving the car, good one Dan.
  9. Happy Belated Hatchday Kizzy, wow one year old now, my how time flies and you are one beautiful grey, bet you got the royal treatment.
  10. We have all had to deal with this from time to time as our greys hear some sound and its their new favorite thing to repeat, this too shall pass until the next time.
  11. Those are great ideas for converting a grey from a less than ideal diet to a more healthful one and it worked like a charm, your post will be a must read for those who need some guidance in how to get their grey on a more well balanced eating regime.
  12. Yep I agree with the others, chuck the rusty thing and get a new one.
  13. Hello Deltadawn and welcome to our family. You have come to the right place to get in touch with other like minded people, the chosen few who share their lives with an African grey and usually several other birds. You have a nice mix of birds and all about the same age. We would love to see some pictures of your fids with their names if you would indulge us with a few.
  14. What a creative little parrot, can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
  15. That's why they call it MBS for multiple bird syndrome and most of us have it, you can't just have one bird for the more the merrier but I do think they are company for each other when no one is home even if they are in separate cages but you have to know your limits and mine is three.
  16. I just love Cricket's purr, you can tell she loves you very much Ray and Corky is just too smart but then that is one reason we love them so much, thanks for sharing that with us, I look forward to seeing lots more now that you have the video figured out.
  17. Since you just got him he needs time to settle into his new home, after all he has been thru a total change so just allow him time to become accustomed to his new surroundings and things will settle down for him, remember time and patience is your new best friends right now.
  18. What a great idea that is, I am gonna have to try this, its wonderful how our members keep coming up with ways to entertain our fids and thanks for sharing it with us.
  19. Emma is a fine looking lady and always a crowd pleaser.
  20. That is good news about Dali and a step in the right direction, it is the simple things and things happen in grey time which is slow but sure, I hope he continues to progress and gains the ability to fly again. I understand why you are overprotective and its only natural but learn to relax and go with the flow.
  21. Its sad but they say there is one born every minute and that is who they make money off of.
  22. I've seen that before but since Halloween is coming soon its still funny to see, thanks for sharing that with us Dan.
  23. How horrible, the despicable bastards!
  24. It would have been preferable to have just let her stay in the cage while you were at the hospital than trim her wings but the damage is done now so don't beat yourself up over it as they will grow out again, it is quite a shock to them to suddenly not be able to fly but you will get your sweet grey back again, lesson learned.
