  1. hi everyone,lovely posts well to be honest as some might have read in my other post i lost my mum to cancer,i found it hard to cope,i made my mind up there and then,life is to short so i went off and found a good breeder and bought my little baby Bernie,from the day i brought him home into my life he has helped me put the laughter back into my day,the smile on my face, on the other hand he has taught me to lose weight,as i do him fruit n veg everyday;) .i have the family on all the goodness now to.he has also taught my daughter of 3 years how to be gentle & caring.hes just my life saver.

  4. hiya everyone,my little girl taught bernie to wave,she is 3 years old,and always waves goodmorning to Bernie,and again when she going to nusery school she will wave goodbye to him,and again at bed time. I wish i had the camera on them the night she waved goodnight to bernie and he lifted his little foot up to her:lol: he does this only for her.ive tried but i think its some thing sophie and bernie share only! :silly: i try to add piccy.hope it works lol

  6. i think its a nice thing to have children that have a thought for animals,and people.plus like you say mommafawkes kids do say the sweetest things,perhaps thats where our sweet birds get it from.
  7. thank you judygram. she is so much a little birdie lover,spends time caring for the wild birds in the garden.And even asked her nursery school if they could get a bird table,so the children could feed the birds! so when she saw the same bird as hers with no foot she was so upset.
  8. yes it is great that some people out there are gona do there all to help this african grey,my little girl of 3 was crying when it was on the news:( her words-oh poor birdie mummy,im glad Bernie is safe,but im happy they gona fix the birdie up. I thought how sweet off her to stop and take notice.
  9. :)Just wondering if anybody saw the news two nights ago about a african grey with only one leg and hasnt had a good sleep for long enough because of his balance,he lost his foot after a wild animal got hold of him, .now scientists are trying to make a false leg that can slot onto the perch so he can at long last have a good sleep such a sweet looking bird too.

  15. thanks,he does eat a lot of others but didnt want to write a long list,lol. cucumber and lettuce are more water,but he does enjoy them when i make a salad ;)what would you say is thee best fruit or veg to try him with? he enjoys grapes,apples,plum,pomagrantit(when i can find one) but would love to try him with something new,i bake the coconut and hang it in the cage,he loves that,it acts as a toy,and a treat.

  17. hi all,i came on here tonight after sat with my grey all night talking and playing with him,to find out about this,and now it seems i know what he is doing,only after he stretches his neck and bobs a few tmes he brought up parts of his seeds,:sick: i thought there was some thing wrong lol. thanks foer the info,great site. x

Hiya everyone,a quick update on Bernie,he can now,make new fun noises he love to shout chick chick chick chick chicken, barks,meows,laughs like me (poor thing) if i tell him to be quiet he replys Im a naughty boy! tut tut tut,and copies the sounds of the crows outside. He makes better enjoyment than the tv in my house at times.:laugh:
  19. My african grey is called Bernie.My kids named him this as they lost there granma to cancer in 2005,her name was Bernice,so the kids shortend it down,(Bernie) and it does a female or a male.

    Bernie always seems very kean on whats in my cup, lol norm a nice cup of tea, so instead of me giving him some of mine, i make his own little cup up with a little warmed water in it,and he loves it! and feels he isnt getting left out

    thank you FairY, he is my wee lad. Caspersmum,i gave Bernie the houmous,he loves it! thanks. Gave Bernie a strawberry yesterday,i now have red curtain.and wall!! :laugh:

    Wow thats a lot of diff things for me to try him with, i see Bernie and i are going to have fun . Bernie hates bananas,turns his beak up at it,wont even go near dish! he will however eat green pepper, he loves monster munch crisps,but makes a load of nice mess for me to tidy! lol.

    well i tried the sweet potatoes, and yup he loved it! thank you, Bernie will eat a lot of veg but it must be part cooked,dont know why,but he just likes it that way.i still give him pulses,but he rather have veg or fruit.some great ideas on here for me to try him with, thanks everyone
