1. Harrison loves his big plastic ball with a bell in it. I have it hanging on the "ceiling" of his cage and he plays with it like he's fighting with it. He'll stop "fighting" then he'll put his head up to it like he wants it to scratch it. LOL It's so funny to see.
2. I'm in Sacramento, CA. I've never had a parking ticket...I have had a few speeding tickets, though. They were a long time ago and I don't remember how much there were...but I do remember having to go to traffic school because I was in danger of losing my license due to too many points on my record. I barely made it before getting another speeding ticket...one ticket goes off the record and another goes on...
3. My husband and I are both members of a gym. I've been about 10 times in the last 6 months and he's been twice. We plan to pick it up this summer when our schedules slow down a bit. If we don't, we're cancelling our membershit. When I'm there, it's great...it's getting the motivation to actually get up and going that's tough...oh well...hopefully my motivation will pick up this summer!
4. This probably sounds silly and you guys might say that I'm a but goofy, but I miss kissing him...lol. So, I started "hugging" him and kissing him on the wing/back. I say "gimme hugs" then I put him under my chin and I wrap my free hand around him then kiss him.
5. To me, it looks like the bendy rope thing is just hanging in mid-air. I'm thinking to myself "how is he doing this??" :silly: Is it attached to the swing? I just can't see it.
6. CD, that could very well be it...does that mean my f-stop needs to be higher?? I'm still having a bit of trouble with my KM focusing...maybe I'll use my FZ50 or FZ20 and see if I get better results. Thanks a bunch!!! Is this what you mean by coming toward the camera? The green thing in the front kinda ruined this pic... I'm going to make a special tank just for taking pictures of the geckos. They are mostly orange and black...what color do you think would be a good background? And, do you think one of those aquarium wall paper designs would be too busy? Should I have a solid color instead?? Thank you sooo much for all your help!!!
7. YAY!!!!  Your buds, Heather and Harrison :woohoo:
8. I like this photo but something's wrong...I just can't put my finger on it...help??
9. I was kissing my bird on the beak for a while...it was cute...I loved it, he loved it. I took him to the vet for a check up and they found some nasty bacteria in his mouth  ...then she saw me kissing him...she said to stop kissing him on the beak for two weeks and bring him back for a re-test. Well, I did and his test turned out great...no more bacteria. I was making him sick by kissing him on the beak. It kinda sucks that I can't kiss him anymore, but I don't want him to be sick either.
10. Oh, darn..I was hoping you could just copy and paste it with your photo. On my website, it lists it like this... 11. Hey CD~ Will you post your exif info so we can learn how to set our cameras??
12. Hi..I have Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D, Panasonic FZ50 and Panasonic FZ20. On each photo, if you click it to make it bigger, it will say at the bottom which camera took the picture. CD, thanks!!

Post edited by: HeatherStrella, at: 2007/05/12 20:00
13. Hey...I'm going to post my album...there are a lot of photos in it, but I figured you could give me some good feedback with a good sample of my photography. I know I need to work on composition...I have one of those light boxes...I call it a "tent"...it's sheer white and I have two lights on either side...I've take pics of some of my geckos in it, but never Harrison. Anyway, here's Harrison's album http://imageevent.com/heatheranddenis/congoafricangrey'>http://imageevent.com/heatheranddenis/congoafricangrey Here's my whole album...I hope you like Olivia Newton-John..lol...I could only bring a P&S to the concerts so they're not wonderful photos... http://imageevent.com/heatheranddenis
14. We have another cage (green cage) with a play area on top. This cage (the white one) is in his room. The green one is in the living room. He's in the white one while I'm at work and is in or on the green one when I get home...although, sometimes he wants to stay in the white one. We didn't put a play area on top of the white one because of the lights and cords... He has two other perches...they're portable...one is made with a Christmas tree stand and one is made with a TV dinner tray... You said "look at all the toys..."...lol that's nothing compared to what he has now...our house looks like a parrot store or something. Have you ever used the plastic chains?? Well, not you, but your bird... Harrison didn't ever warm up to it.
15. We have the "tube" style full spectrum lighting above the cage...this pic was taken a while ago (when we first got the cage) and I have put a lot of toys/chews/etc. in it since... Also, we've taken that yellow chain out...not sure what those are for...he never really liked it. Maybe I should get a whole new picture...
16. If you can, don't say the phrase and get people in the house not to say the phrase. Ignore her when she says it and praise her when she says other things. When we first got Harrison at 3 months of age, he was saying "Hi Birdies". We never really said that to him and he eventually stopped saying it. He started saying it again after we got a DVD of parrots...when we turn it on, we say "hi birdies" and now he says that when we turn it on. I would imagine she'll stop if she doesn't hear it anymore and if you don't reinforce her for saying it....reinforcing could be almost any reaction...just ignore her when she says it. I hope that helps. Heather
17. Caesarsdad, what do you use for a background? I have a KM Maxxum 7D that I just got back from "the shop" due to a back focus problem...I'm not sure if the problem is fixed or not...your pictures are great!! I also use the Panasonic FZ50 and FZ20...love em both...sometimes I like them better than the slr. Do you use any other cameras?? Heather
18. When we first got Harrison, he was a delight. He'd step up and come out of his cage with no problems. Then, many months later, he started doing what you're explaining. He started biting...not hard, but enough to get me to pull away. He'd hang upside down when I'd try to get him out of his cage...he just wouldn't come out for me. He was turning one at the time so I was taking him to the vet anyway...They said that because he was still young, he wouldn't bite hard and to "force" him out of the cage. Now, that doesn't mean grab him or anything...it just means to insist on him stepping up. If he's hanging by one foot, have him step up...no matter how awkward the position. I stopped pulling away when he'd "bite"...he never did draw blood....it took a day or two and he was back to normal. He totally stopped that behavior and started coming out of the cage with no problems what-so-ever.
19. When we went to the breeder's house, we were supposed to be picking up a female I was going to name "Sophia" or "Sophie" for short. When we saw Harrison (actually when he saw us) we knew we had to take him home. He came right to us and wouldn't leave us alone. He was 12 weeks old and was already talking. He had two sisters who were pretty quiet and not as "out-going" as he. Anyway, after much thought, we brought him home. It was a 3-4 hour drive and when we got home, I got on the computer to look up boy baby names. I couldn't decide but had a few names I liked. We took him to the vet the next day to be checked...they were telling us info about birds and stuff and then suggested we use "Harrisons" bird food. That was one of the names I liked so we decided to name him that. He never ended up liking that food, but he's stuck with that name anyway. Ha. Here's a picture of him from yesterday. I hope it works, I'm going to try to make it bigger.
20. Hi all...I'm wondering if someone can answer my question(s). What age is a Grey considered to be not a baby anymore? What age does adolescence start and then when does adulthood start? Thanks to anyone who can answer my questions I've added more pictures of Harrison if you wanna take a look. http://imageevent.com/heatheranddenis/congoafricangrey Heather
21. Harrison has made that sound since day one...he was 3 months old when I got him. (He's never done the dance, though) I've always wondered what he was doing. He usually tries to bring up some food at the same time. The only time he does it is when I'm sitting in a certain place on the floor. He doesn't do it any other time. The first video, the way he was grabbing your finger with his foot...I love that. Harrison does that, although, hasn't recently. He has grabbed my finger and rubbed his beak/head all over my hand. We didn't have him DNA tested, we went on the breeder's visual experience. She said his head size and some other stuff I can't remember made her think he was a boy...he was a lot bigger (in the head) than his sisters. Thank you sooo much for posting that video!!!
22. Yes, babies are clumsy...Harrison is 16 months and still falls sometimes. When he was a baby, I put towels on the bottom of his cage then put newspaper over them...helped to break his fall a little. What a cute baby!!! Congrats {Feel-good-00020114} Heather
23. I'm with Monique on this one. Harrison would love nothing more than to chew up the remote control to the TV. I make sure all remotes and anything looking like a remote is put away and he has plenty to chew on. I use colorful tongue depressors, Chinese finger traps, wooden blocks, rawhide..etc. He didn't like the rawhide at first. I put a piece in some fruit juice and he loved it...now he chews on it like crazy...no fruit juice needed anymore.
24. My husband made a stand using a Christmas tree stand. A lot of the mess winds up inside the stand...we put newspaper under it in case some does of the mess makes it to the floor.
