Something about toxicity of the plant ... Toxicity Dieffenbachia’s inflorescence The cells of the Dieffenbachia plant contain needle-shaped calcium oxalate crystals called raphides. If a leaf is chewed, these crystals can cause a temporary burning sensation and erythema. In rare cases, edema of tissues exposed to the plant has been reported. Mastication and ingestion generally result in only mild symptoms.[7] With both children and pets, contact with dieffenbachia (typically from chewing) can cause a host of unpleasant symptoms, including oral irritation, excessive drooling, and localized swelling.[8] However, these effects are rarely life-threatening. In most cases, symptoms are mild, and can be successfully treated with analgesic agents,[9] antihistamines,[10] or medical charcoal.[11][12] Gastric evacuation or lavage is "seldom"[11] indicated. In patients with exposure to toxic plants, 70% are children younger than 5 years.

Here are some other pics taken in different situations: playing with a new, home made toy, watching what's going on outside, taking a close look at the fish ... having a sink bath, and doing acrobatics
-
Yes, he does enjoy his sink bath. The first time he did it, he loved it so much that when I took him back to his stand, he immediately flew back, right into the bathroom to have another splash of water ... As regards the juice, I decided not to take any Anyway, thanks for the suggestons.

We have just discovered something more interesting than chasing that stupid spray nozzle ... Btw, while Cockey enjoys newly found advantages of having a sink bath on his own, I am completely wet at times just standing by ...

Great info, MKparrot I'm particularly fond of one of the best known colonies in the world, Telegraph Hill Parrots, since my former bird was a red-masked conure ... The bird escaped by accident and who knows, maybe has found another escapee and established a small colony some place in Serbia
-
Nice vids! Where's this bird from, Serbia ?
-
Here's an update of Cockey doing acrobatics on his playground hanging leash, but a few minutes later he got rather mad because he couldn't unhinge the peg fixed to the leash
-
Thanks, but I will be just a guest of honour since it was more a nip than a real bite
-
Nice pics from both of you! I can see that your birds are as cuddly as mine, and Misty takes exactly the same position on the monitor as my Cockey
-
He does enjoy doing acrobatics on his playground, but at the moment is peacifully sitting on the monitor watching me type this post ...
-
I can't see anything ...
-
A small update ... But guys, where are your pics, you should contribute too, wolud be nice to have them as well! I am quite positive that all of you have established firm bonds with your feathery friends.

So, the magic works
-
Yes, those are canaries, malinois and a Spanish timbrados, facing them there's a cage with 2 pairs of gouldian finches ... I do hope Cockey's going to mimick them, since they all are excellent singers

The Bird Did It: Share Real Stories, Lay People Won't Believe
Grumpy replied to FirstPenguin's topic in The GREY Lounge
That's only one of the three (cats), though I belong to the dog people in the first place. The first cat arrived to make company to my AB (American Bulldog) when my mother passed away, for the dog not to be alone while I'm out working. The second one arrived to make company to the first one, and the last addition was when I was forced to give my beloved dog away, due to a traffic accident which put me on my sick leave for almost a year ... I was desperate and thought I'd never have a dog again until one day, when Zuca (the Yellow One) aka MoJo walked into my life nad heart altogether, being my precious adoptee Here's another cat, Snookey, the oldest one ... Regarding travel business, need not to tell me anything, I forgot when it was last time I'd been abroad ... PS. Couldn't help uploading Zuca's pic as well, and there's the gang of 4 Sorry for spoiling the thread ... -

Yes, those nasty teachers are always to be blamed -
Yeah, that's more than true when you have a toddler in the house

A nice play area indeed, but please be aware of chains, ropes if any ... mu bird almost got killed today stucking its head in a noose he'd made himself. I can't even think of what could've happened if I'd not been there.
-
Guys thanks a lot, but things have turned almost for the worst today ... you never know when something bad can happen, so a few hours ago my poor, little fellow almost got killed playing in his play area. Namely, he enjoyed his newly added toys, among them a simple, red shoelace hanging on top of his ring, but poor, little creature somehow managed to get dangled in the lace and almost choked himself . At first, I thought his foot got stuck, however that was his head, and I hardly managed to get him out of the death noose which he'd made ... I got bitten of course, but nothing serious and am happy to have my bird alive Obviously, being cautious all the time when the bird is out is simply A MUST! I cut the lace into three separate pieces, so my birdie is playing happily again

Since he is temporarily housed in a rather inappropriate cage, mu CAG has a wide range of toys and amusemements to play with outside ... and is out of the cage most of of the day.

JeffNOK, that is such an exquisite bird you have, lucky you, with your job too Here's my little rascal/author again, after finishing his writing session, with his silent accomplice nearby ... So jobwise, is it only the print writing the kids in the US are taught nowadays? To be honest, though Cyrrilic alphabet is the pattern of hand/script writing here, in Serbia, I have to say that lots of kids prefer the print form as well, so the writing you mention is almost a lost art even here. -
"Loved, loved the photos, Grumpy!" ... Thanks Inara, I enjoy reading your posts too, and am waiting for the photos ... Timbersmom, any pic is better than none, especially when taken on your own

So Timebrsmom, urge the hubby to take them ASAP
