  1. Thank you for reading my posts and the acceptance into the grey forum community.

    ~Rick

  2. I've been having problems with PhotoBucket as well, they could have upgraded their website infrastructure that's causing some people problems. ~Rick
  3. All of my videos are in 3gp format. How can I upload or link without using You Tube? Greyvid.com will not allow me to upload this format. ~Rick
  4. I got it, it's a ceiling fan, just like the one I have in my kitchen.
  5. I too, laugh my head off at times. One time my sister was over for a visit, she approached Cosmo's cage and started repeating, "pretty bird...pretty bird..." like someone would say to a canary or something. Cosmo replied, "Ahhh, be quiet. You're crazy!" (be quiet is what I'll whisper to him when he gets real noisy and you're crazy is something I'll say, playfully when he acts goofy). ~Rick
  6. Toran, Keep interacting and talking to Luna and you'll be surprised that she'll start communicating with you in the English language (or any language she's exposed to) a lot sooner than you think. ~Rick
  7. It is! He'll curse when he's angry, or worried, or when he gets impatient. One morning, I was preparing his food in the kitchen, Cosmo was calling from his cage (as he always does) "Riiick, fresh water" which means water and/or food (oh, he draws out my name Riiick, when he wants immediate attention). I guess I took too long because right after I put the bowl in the bowl holder, he looked at me and called me a "fu**ing ass". I still have no idea where he got that kind of language from, seriously! He may have heard it from a cable channel movie, as far as I can figure. Greys are certainly in a breed of their own! ~Rick
  8. "Go to the bird supply store. Buy everything you need for the month. Then with the leftover money, go to the grocery store and pick up a five pound box of macaroni, some parmesan cheese and some margarine. This should last you about two weeks and it’s about all you’ll be able to afford after all that money you spent at the bird supply store" Yep...that sounds about right. ~Rick
  9. I love smoke-house almonds! Of course Cosmo eats his raw and unsalted.
  10. Interesting...they do make some crazy noises. I know the Grey growl and it's usually a low-level, extended gravely sound; like when they're frightened or giving a warning (much like a rattlesnake shakes it's rattle before striking)...their heads get skinny and their pupils "pin" (close tightly). When I picked up Cosmo from the breeder (He was 13 weeks old) he was growling in the carry box all the way home. Now the only time he growls is when I (on occasion) use the Roomba robot vacuum. There's the Grey growl and the Grey scream, which sounds like someone being choked to death. Cosmo does this while he bats his toys around in his cage, kind of like when a dog plays with a toy, as it shakes it's head with the toy in his mouth, or when he desperately wants my attention and feels that I'm not responding to him fast enough. ~Rick
  11. Cosmo hates when I think out loud. I guess he thinks, Who the hell is he talking to? He'll yell, "Riiick, Jesus Christ are you OK?" (absolutely no kidding! He got "Are you OK?" from when he was younger and a bit clumsy, he'd sometimes fall off of his toys while playing with them and I'd respond "Are you OK?" The lords name in vain is self evident, never aimed at Cosmo though.) ~Rick
  12. Cosmo is also pretty fearless, except for the robot vacuum! Anytime I use my iRobot "Roomba", Cosmo does that low, gravely growl and stirs nervously in his cage. I try to tell him "It's only mister vacuum cleaning the rugs", with no avail. He doesn't mind the regular up-right vacuum, which is way noisier, go figure!
  13. Keri, Welcome! There's a pretty good book I've read called "For the love of Greys". You can probably find it on Amazon.com. grey forums is a treasure trove of experienced Grey owners who would never "get sick of you". It's a good idea that no matter what you read about the care of a Grey, if you're not sure, post a question here and you'll get the right answer. Thanks for your service by adopting Morgan. ~Rick
  14. Welcome Sherry, I like to hear when someone rescues "One of natures little secrets".
  15. Lupine, Welcome! You've certainly joined the right site for any question you have, or to share with us your joyous moments (and concerns) about your future Grey. I've had quite a few parrots of different species in the past but nothing like my CAG. I couldn't have imagined that I would become so bonded and captivated as I've become with Cosmo. There's never a dull moment!
  16. Nancy, Yeah, I do second guess myself when I shouldn't. Cosmo is special (To me, anyway) When I went to get him from his breeder, he got on my hand and looked at me sideways, then lowered his wings offering me his back. I've had parrots since I was 10 years old and never had experienced anything like that as first contact. Thanks for the reply. ~Rick
  17. About a month ago, I switched Cosmo's main daily diet to a mix of Drs. Foster and Smith's Premium Blends parrot food and RoudyBush (continuing with the veggies, fruits and other treat foods I've mentioned in my other posts in this thread), as per all that I've read on this site. Cosmo is finicky when it comes to pellet food, however he's taken to RoudyBush and seems to like it as well as the DF&S Premium Blend. Thanks all! ~Rick
  18. Yeah, I was thinking about Talon the other day and I figured I'd ask for an update (And it's wonderful it was good news). ~Rick
  19. Hi Nancy, I've had Cosmo for 6 years now (He was 13 weeks old when I picked up from the breeder). I'm disabled, so I spend a lot of time with him, and he's never shown any aggression towards me (nor my cat, {and visa-versa} of whom which I adopted 3 years ago). He's been declawed by a previous owner and is now 13 years old. however, I know parrots never lose their wild instincts and they could be unpredictable no matter how much they trust you. That being said, maybe I shouldn't tempt fate. ~Rick
  20. Romeo sure does love the camera! The 4th one is my favorite too.
  21. I've read that about a parrot's back is their sexual area, so given the feedback I've received, I won't stroke Cosmo's back nor kiss it. I do kiss Cosmo on his beak, where he imitates a couple of smooching sounds, we call this, "A Beak Smooch". I know it can be dangerous, since I'm exposing my lips and face to a possible serious injury. I've attached a pic of Cosmo in full back exposure.
  22. KarahEve, Is He/she lowering it's wings and exposing it's back in your Avatar pic? If it is (My Cosmo does the same thing when I handle him) I believe this to be a sign of ultimate trust. When Cosmo does this, he wants me to stroke and kiss his back, much like in my Avatar. ~Rick
  23. Maybe some day your Grey will be able to clear-up the mumbling, and tell you about the video. When I saw the picture you included on your first post about saving him/her, I couldn't help but to think of what kind of hellish life it must have had before you came along. (I'm guessing Rebel was the name that mean old man gave her) It's a good idea to give him/her a new name, it's possible that calling your new friend "Rebel" might bring back bad memories. (Could be true)
  24. Haa,haa,haaa... This sounds like my Congo Grey. I don't know if you can teach him "not to need you all the time", however I'm sure if this can be done there'll be someone with more experience than I with training, to post a possible resolution. I know it can get annoying sometimes, but I have to remember that my Grey absolutely adores me, as much as I adore him.
  25. Welcome, I sure you'll find grey forums educational and fun!
