Could possibly have something to do with the spring rut (assuming you live in the northern hemisphere). Our Huey is a different bird right now although I haven't noticed a smell difference. I can't get my nose close enough to him if I want to keep my face arranged in it's current state.
Interesting topic - I'm afraid I don't have any answers. I wouldn't be able to get my face close enough to Alfie to give him a proper sniff- but I do notice how he smells sometimes. I can't say I've ever noticed it changing. And I only have him so wouldn't be able to compare to any other birds.
Well hopefully your doing well, sometimes our closest buddies can pick up on our emotions and just want to be near us when they sense somethings off. My guys know when I'm not happy and they do get restless at night. Just a thought.
Hey all,
My timneh Charlie likes to copy my Congo Oliver. Oliver picks up on the strangest noises lol. His latest noise he absolutely loves is the opening of one of my screeching doors, how adorable! My old guy who's name is Creech.... go figure, has picked up on saying Oliver! They all appreciate a good whistle session about twice a day.
I am sure we've all noticed the smell of our greys but I have a few questions I cannot seem to find the answers to.
1. My male grey presently smells like he is a flower in bloom, super aromatic. My females have not changed in scent and do not have this smell. He has been like this for weeks now and this is the first time after several years that he has smelt like this. Any ideas why? He is about 13 years old now.
2. What exactly causes parrots to smell so good after being outside even if only for a short time. I used to think it may be the UV but I notice it even if I just have the windows open on a nice day for the fresh air. What exactly is it that causes this?
Thanks in advance for any info!

Ah, he'll never go on the floor if I try and put him there. Sometimes he'll misjudge a flight and end up on the floor by mistake and have a little wander but for the most part he never really wants to be on the floor.
I did let him explore for a while over the weekend. He flew between each window sill quite a few times and checked everything out. Then he came and had a snooze and some head scritches on my knee, so I think he's pretty happy with it all so far!
My Oliver has done many of the things you have mentioned, ie.... biting the back of my neck or head while sitting on the couch. Attacking my feet as I sit on the couch, he comes running to do that. He always bites my hands, I just learned to deal with the pain but if I tell him "be nice" he'll usually calm down, not always though. He's a little stinker!
My Oliver likes shoe string ends, potatoes chip bags and plain ole paper to shred. Of course I don't let him have the potato chip bags he just gets a bite in before I'm like hey! stop. Creech likes to dismantle my home, base boards, floor, doors .... Charlie just chews on the vertical blinds so he has a nook chewed out when the blinds are closed. Oh how the apartment people are gonna be pissed when I leave lol.
He looks interested but I bet if you try and place him on that new floor he'll want nothing to do with it at first. All my guys are pretty hesitant when it comes to showing them new things, They cling to me, except of course when they see jewlery, then they just want it all to themselves.
My dad used to stand at the top of the basement stairs and yell "Marguerite, Hey, Margreet, Hey!!!" Dad's been gone 10 years now, but every great while I still get to hear his voice yell my name.
Aww yes..FOOD..my 2 get their own plate or eat off of mine. My spouse wont allow eating off his plate & although they have been doing that their entire lives, they have learned that HE does not allow eating from his plate, he gives them his food onto another one & they are good with that. My third one,,gets bullied, so I have to give her bites from my fork at a distance from the others...LOL
