judygram
Gosh Carol, how neat is that, I say go for it if you want both, they get along because they are clutch mates and two won't be that much more trouble than one would be. You are a lucky woman and this is the chance of a lifetime, you go get both now ya hear. Just look at that picture of both of them, now how can you not take both, that is so adorable, thanks for sharing that pic with us.

Thank You for encouraging my heart and I know that she will have a great start. Tina told me last week she "wish she could have a owner like for for the baby girl" Welll she might just get her wish because that baby girl would be so blessed to have us! They will not only have furry brothers (I have NO girl animals) but they also have human brothers and sisters and I have 2 grandkids and another one on the way. Tycos_mom
Well Carol I think you have enough love in your heart and enough people around you that can also help with getting 2 baby's well socialized to grow up and be healthy happy confident Greys. They will have each other also which would just be wonderful. they could play together and learn together. I don't see any bad side only good can come from taking both of them. they are brother and sister and they could be with each other all of their lives what could be better. I don't think that you could do anything more than this awesome act of love You go girl and Judys right girls rock I have girl birds and boy birds and I must say my girls are the best ever my little Shady Grey turned out to be a little girl also Yeah
judygram
So your partner won't help, well don't let that stop you, it wouldn't stop me if I wanted them both and this is the opportunity of a lifetime to get clutch mates, you go get both if you want both, you have our support if it matters any. lovethatgrey
Seriously speaking...you have a very unique situation. I really believe that if your living conditions and lifestyle permit. it is always better to have more that one parrot. Parrots are hardwired to be flock creatures. In the wild, one parrot alone usually is a a LOST parrot or one who has been abandoned by the flock.. usually due to a physical handicap or sickness. A single parrot in the wild also runs the risk of being killed by a predator more easily. There is strength in numbers. My point here is that I have 2 parrots, I wouldn't have it any other way. Let's be realistic. You can't be in the same room as your parrots 24 hours a day. When you are out or in another part of your home they keep each other occupied and entertained. My parrots regard each other as their flock. They are never really physically alone. They've learned how to share, how to be patient and take turns with my attention. I think when there is only one parrot.. the issue of possessiveness and jealousy occurs more frequently. CarolandFamily
Wow I just read that and that brings up another great question about the jealousy part and the numbers also too. That is so true and we can't be there 24hrs a day but they will have each other for a lifetime. Thank You! I also found this article to and read page 41 it talks about Greys being in a group setting just like you said Love here's the articl: http://www.charlieandpeggy.com/thesis_greys.pdf

Post edited by: CarolandFamily, at: 2009/04/16 15:
Eckobird
Oh wow Carol, how lucky are you to have this opportunity! That would be so cool to bring home two babies. It would be a lot of work but I think you can do it. Your going to be a great mama to them! I really like the name you picked out for her, that is cute how they match. I hope everything works out for you and keep us posted
Jane08
Just read the article about them being sociable and it being better with 2 and I have to agree. We had Rangi for awhile before we got Kea and he had everything and we thought he was fine, but as soon as we got kea it was like Rangi became another bird and we could see the real him. He played in different ways with her, seemed so much happier (even though he was happy by himself, or so we thought). It is a real comfort for me when I am at work for the day knowing they have each other. Lovethatgrey our 2 still haven't learnt how to share though. Lyric
Wow! How exciting! Carol, you have enough love to share for Ahjari and his little sister...I'm so excited for you just thinking about it. And yeah, I agree they do better if you have more than one. Whenever you are gone for a day you won't have to worry about your little baby being all alone. Plus, it's better if you are going to end up with two of them to get them together. That way you know right off they are going to get along with each other and you won't have an issue like I'm facing with my Lyric and Sadie Grey. Lyric is scared of Sadie and I can't have them out together at the same time. You won't have that issue which will be a big plus! These babies are going to be such lucky little greys! casper
I really hope you can get both babies Carol. The best thing I ever did was buy my second grey! As well as keeping each other company, I love to watch my three preening each other and playing together. I wish I could have brought two home at the same time, my three are all different ages but I wouldnt have it any other way. I cant wait to find out what happens, do what feels right for you! Good luck:)
