Pictures of my Tiels

Since so many people requested to see my spoiled fids, I just decided to provide my photobucket link, and then those of you that would like to see can check it out. (link is at the bottom)

I have 4 Tiels:

Ryely is my pied female. She was the first of my tiels and is affectionately called "Ryley-poo" by my husband and I. She laid her first clutch of eggs last November. (Unfirtle, as she had what we refered to as a "love toy". Needless to say the toy is gone, she lost interest in the eggs, and things are back to normal.)

I also have a cinamon pearl pied that is named Chickin. She is about 6 months, though I am thinking that I might have to change her name to Rooster as she seems to be slowly shedding her pearls as she gets older which indicates that she might be a he. I guess Im going to have to wait until she molts. Anyhow this is the first baby bird I ever hand-fed. She is convinced that she is a person and I ADORE her.

I have a lutino female named Duckie. She is a silly one. She's not really fond of anyone but me, and isnt a real affectionate bird, but I never told her that she has to be... lol. Ive come to respect that she likes her space, and that she finds her comfort in being around me rather than all over me. Guess thats why they say animals all have their own personality.

Last I have a grey. "He" is clutch-mate to Duckie. I believe that he is a he because he is not a lutino as his sister is, however his father was only split to lutino so he could be a he or a she. Im hoping that he is a he. He seems to have become more vocal in the last two weeks or so. He is my attention hog. If I leave he flock calls for me, and if I open the cage door he must have head scritches :)

There are more pictures in my album that you are welcome to take a look at located here:

I just decided to pick one of each to shorten this message :D

Thanks for looking!

Those are adorable pictures and gorgeous tiels:) I liked that you introduced them individually and gave us an idea each of their personalities. Makes me want some tiels now:woohoo: Thanks for sharing them with us.

I feel like a "crazy bird lady" When I tell people this but my birds are just as unique and individual as my kids are. I have 4 tiels and 3 children. My tiels act like kids. Duckie doesnt like to eat peas, Ryley prefers her mist-bath in the early morning, whereas Drake would rather take a dip in the waterbowl whevever it strikes him. Chickin loves attention and to be touched and kissed. All of them tolerate my children. The birds were taught not to be mean to the "babies" and the babies are taught how to approach the birds.

It sounds crazy but my birds are just another part of my family. Im excited about potentially adding a grey to our family :)

I love your birds.I have a tiel called Cracker who I hand fed. He is a monster, spoilt rotten and so self assured, I love him to bits though.I look forward to hearing more about your flock.I am sure you would be a great grey owner if that is what you decide.

Post edited by: she, at: 2009/01/31 14:35

I have 3 other birds besides my grey and they all have such unique personalities and they are like your tiels too. So fussy with things. 2 of mine like plain, pellets while the other 2 will only eat fruity blend:S My grey likes carrots and brocolli, but my eclectus prefers fruit. My little conure won't eat his food from his dish very much but prefers to steal from other cages:evil: and my amazon will eat anything you put in front of him. Yep, they are just like kids:) I think you would make a great Grey mom, too;)

Post edited by: BaxtersMom, at: 2009/01/31 15:30

Very handsome/pretty tiels. I had a tiel many, many years ago, before I knew much about bird care, unfortunately (15 years ago). My husband reminded me that he used to whistle "Bridge over the River Kwai" all the time.

Trust me when I say nothing sounds crazy to us when it's coming from another parrot-lover! We've all been there and understand completely!

My ekkies love showers so much that this morning I put my Max in first and a few minutes later I went in and there was Katie sitting underneath him getting soaked. Still working on Kenya though...the tolerates them but only because I give her lots of lovin' aftewards!

Oh I love the WF pearl! What a pretty girl. My chickin is a pearl as well but I am beginning to think that she is a he, as the pearling near ht back is fading.:( Boys dont keep their pretty pearls past a year. Chickin is very special to me because I hand-fed her and I just have this bond with her that I dont have with my other three... all this time I have been calling her a she.. what if she is a he? My poor lil fid might have a gender complex! I dont want to have to change chickin's name to Rooster! LOL:whistle:

Judy thays blood on my finger from the bird I was holding. I had just rescued him a day or 2 before and the only way to tame a teil is to take the bites and don't back down for anything now that bird is the biggest sweet heart he talks up a storm and just loves tobe cuddled but at first that was not the case it didn't take to many bites but he did draw blood a couple timesLOL
