Rachel218 Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Two people in my house smoke how bad is it to the bird?
judygram Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I would make your house smoke free, grey's respiratory systems are more sensitive to smoke than ours, they could go outside to smoke but I wouldn't allow it in my house. Better to be safe than sorry.
casper Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 You cant have anyone smoking near your grey, they are going to have to go outside for a cigarette, it could be very dangerous for your bird. Also smokers should wash their hands before handling the bird after having a cigarette.
kittykittykitty Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Please listen to Judy and Casper unless you want a disaster with your grey.
danmcq Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 The others are all spot on with their comments. It is detrimental to your birds respiratory systym. Please advise them that no smoking will be tolerated in the house. My wife and I both smoke, but we stopped smoking in our house years ago. It's nasty, turn everything yellow in your house and leaves it smelling like an ashtray. Although, we are both working at quitting now. It's bad for our health as well. :-)
Laurie Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Yep, remember the canary in the coal mine. Whatever is in the air will affect a bird much sooner than it will a human!
Toni Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 If second hand smoke is bad for people its bad for birds.I have to tell you a small story.I had this plant. It was a Potho.I had it vining every where in my bedroom. Got this b/f who moved in.Smoked in the bedroom only.Smoked for 6 months. During this time the Potho was turning yellow.Growing slowly.B/f decided to quit realized even in the bedroom the children is still in the smoke area.Suddenly the Potho began vining again.Realized it was all the smoking. So if this is doing that much harm to a plant. Its going to do harm to the bird. My house is smoke free. The b/f can freeze his hiney off outside.
Tammy Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I dont have anyone smoke in my House, car. If I had the Birds or not. Me & My Hubby Dont smoke. But like friends Know better at my House!
