Tycos_mom
My 8 month old Cockateil talks his head off. I swear that bird thinks he's a African Grey. Every morning it goes through its little vocabulary its so cute and so clear he says prettybird how are you laugh cough cough laugh whatch a doing and then pretty bird pretty bird over and over. I think he is learning from Fergie my Amazon more than Tyco because Fergies the one that says those things all the time not Tyco. its so cute comming from a little bird I hope he learns to say more things as he gets older. Lauri
I have two that talk and whistle. One more then the other. Boo says whatcha doin?, Hi Boo, Kiss and then gives you kisses and a few other things I can't quite catch. The two of them also were singing the same tune over and over and I couldn't figure out what it was. One day I had Boo out and he was singing to me and our phone started to ring....needless to say I figured out what the tune was! I just never connected it before. I never intended to get a cockatiel, but saw this one and fell in love. Someone else bought his brother, but a few weeks later told me it was an impulse buy and they just weren't bonding!! So she gave him to me. I named him Illusion. Boo is pure white and Illusion is all white with 3 grey feathers. Lauri

Mel
Mine says Hello Pretty Bird but that's it. I tried teaching him to whistle tunes. Big mistake because I can't whistle tunes. I have him all messed up!

sandra902
my little tiel is pretty new to the monkey house and mostly shrieks. he will wolf whistle occasionally followed by some tongue clicking sounds. i have heard of cockatiels that talk so i am hoping little peetey will pick something up along the way. and we are working on extinction with the shrieking...except merlin has now picked it up. he got a couple 'verbotens' for it but now i ignore him after i flinch. gotta work on that flinching. Lyric
I had several cockatiels for years and of them all only one male could talk and all he ever said was "sweety". The others could whistle very good and that was that. They are sweet little birds though and do make good pets.
tarnold
I have had many tiels over the years. Only my males ever talked but the females carried a tune better it seemed. I only have Elvis left. I rescued him from a nasty neighbor who abused him so I have no faith he ever will but he still a great bird!
