In four days. It is hard to believe she well be 1 year old. I still think of her as a baby.

I plan to give her a whole spare of millet and get a new toy this weekend. Got to get her use to it so I can put it in the cage on the 20'th. And some time outside in the travel cage.

Don't really want to do a lot of new things cause the day is for her and I want her to have a good time.

Does anyone else do things for their bird on hatch day? Or am I a nut?

She is the only one I have that I know the date and month and I raised her from day one so wanted to do something special.

Oh and I hope to get some great pictures too. Maybe something I can get framed.

I celebrate the hatch date of my Grey. Though I missed it this year and I felt horrible when I realized. He usually gets a new toy (but it's a fairly common occurrence so I'm not sure if he sees it as particularly special) and a small bite of cake.

We sing happy birthday too- my guy has a great vibrato but still doesn't know all the words. There's a lot of operatic "ooOooOooOhhhs"

Then I usually feel guilty for letting him have some cake with icing, but it's such a small bit and once a year.

My mother has a Quaker and doesn't have the hatch date but knows the month, so she picked a random day in December to do the same sort of thing.

You are definitely not alone.

Lyric's hatchday just happens to be two days before my birthday- so it's easy for me to remember. Last August when he turned one I made him pasta for his dinner, and gave him a new toy. So, yes, we celebrate and I think that's a great thing to do. Even if the bird doesn't understand the significance of the day, they still like to be the center of attention and have a little extra spoiling on their special day!

I plan to do something special on Josey's hatch day on the 25th of this month, she ain't getting no cake for she doesn't need it or me either but I may give her a little extra cheese, she absolutely loves that stuff. Josey will be 2 whole years old then. :);)
