AyaBrea
Bella has always had a very beautiful red tail, but of late the feathers have taken on white splotches when they grow. The other day we found four of her little red feathers on the ground. What could be happening? Is this caused by stress, nutritional deficiency, her biting at them (she has not really been one to pluck)? If it is nutritional, what do I need to give her to supplement it? danmcq
Hello Ayabrea and welcome!! When feathers grow in with abnormal splotching or coloration as you describe, it normally indicates a diet insufficiency or an underlying health issue. I would advise you to take Bella to a good Avian vet to get to the bottom of this.

judygram
I agree with Dan, it might be some kind of deficiency in her diet but in any case a vet visit might be in order expecially if it has been a while since Bella has seen one.
AyaBrea
Thank you all very much. We figured it was most likely to be some deficiency. We have a vet appointment scheduled for next Monday
