Attacking my feet as I sit on the couch, he comes running to do that. He always bites my hands, I just learned to deal with the pain but if I tell him "be nice" he'll usually calm down, not always though. He's a little stinker! Oh yes, Alfie loves to bite feet/toes! I have to keep them well out of his way! Although he seemed to get a bit confused one, started biting my big toe then regurgitated for it. So I think it was a bit of a love/hate relationship that day! 😂

So I think it was a bit of a love/hate relationship that day! 😂 My best friend's parents just went into a nursing home. Since their house has been sold, he now stays with me when he comes up to visit them. Dorian hates him. He (Dorian) likes to wander around the floor in the morning shredding boxes. Jeff is a late sleeper. The first thing Jeff says when he comes out of the guest room is "Where's the bird?" As soon as Dorian hears his voice he comes out, usually from under my secretary, all fluffed up and mean looking, and heads straight for Jeff's feet. I have to run interference pretty darn fast. Jeff says this is why we'll never be roommates again. Dorian is a deal breaker. I wish my angel was better behaved with other people, but in truth, I find the way he heads straight for Jeff kinda funny. Jeff is going to be coming up on a regular basis, so maybe Dorian will get used to him. Not holding my breath though.
Timbersmom
I wouldn't be holding my breath either! Their will and determination matches the most stubborn of people.
thegars
Glad to hear you and Alfie have reconnected as it were. I know your frustration but it seems patience and time have worked. Very happy for you. Debbie seems to be doing fine…she happily goes about her daily life, flying around the house in short bursts as her last trimmed feathers molt, hanging out in her tree or the back of the sofa. I did get nipped in the lip the other day, I think I startled her…I went to get a kiss, been doing that since she was a baby, well I should of made sure she focused, I didn’t and got tagged, my fault not Debbie’s. She spent the rest of day acting a little strange, almost sorry and a bit tentative( maybe the bloody fat lip made her feel guilty), didn’t come to me for head scratches. She was better the next day, normal as Debbie is…lol. Actually wanted more scratches than normal.
Timbersmom
Debbie looks beautiful! They do tend to bite when startled. I have to say though, that there are times I feel Timber has bitten me from spite, to redress perceived insults or failures on my part, ha. Much like he is disciplining a wayward child
neoow
I'm glad Debbie has settled in well and is enjoying herself! Ah it can be so easy to upset them sometimes 😂 I made the mistake of trying to clean my kitchen countertop when Alfie was on the window sill. I have a spray bottle and I grabbed that and went to spray it and he just launched himself at it in anger. He's not a fan of having baths or being misted so I think he took exception to me spraying the worktop... maybe he thought he was next? 😂 I realised my mistake as soon as it happened and put the spray bottle away until he had gone to play somewhere else!
thegars
These birds….I had a tough night, my COPD kept me coughing and restless so I went out to the living room sofa to sit…and catch my breath…. Morning came, uncovered Debbie, waited for her “can I come out, did ya poop” ( a morning ritual), opened her cage door. I went to sit down and heard her flapping wings, raised my arm in time for her to land and start demanding kisses! Over and over she wanted kisses! Probably reading more into it than is real but almost seemed like she knew I needed a little extra love or she was concerned about my coughing. I think they do indeed understand more than we realize, feel more and react accordingly at times.
neoow
Oh they absolutely do understand more than we might think. I get migraines and Alfie and my two cats are always a lot quieter and lovey than they are when I don't have one. Same when I'm ill- one of my cats won't leave my side when I'm ill. He just lays right there with me until I feel better. So I'm not surprised that Debbie was so concerned.
