WinGeorgie Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 Hello Our usually happy older grey has lost neck feathers for the first time ever in the 30 years we have had him. He seems happy enough - it doesn't look like he is plucking them out - so we are baffled. Not changed his diet much - seeds nuts, fruit, water, occasional- milk treat - scrambled eggs. Have read bout aloe vera so will try this. Wondering if we should take him to aviarist? 1
Greytness Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 Yes. If this is a new condition, then he could have something going on that might require medical attention. Blood panel might be needed to rule out any chemical imbalances. He could also potentially have a skin infection 1
WinGeorgie Posted March 18, 2019 Author Posted March 18, 2019 Many thanks for your advice. We have sent a photo to our aviarist to advise - our Grey really doesn’t like visiting - he knows what’s involved 🐦👀 2
Timbersmom Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 I understand that! I can't even mention "vet" in the same room as Timber the day we are to go. He'll get to the most inaccessible corner of the cage and stay there. Keep us posted on his condition please
