judygram
I am so sorry to hear of Alvin's passing and you did everything you could to help this little fella but it just wasn't meant to be. In fact I kind of expected it after you said he was doing better, sometimes they rally one last time before they are gone forever but you surely have been stricken with the love that one can develop for these awesome creatures and maybe in the future you can open your heart for a rescue in need of a good home, in any case please accept my condolences for your loss. katana600
Reading your thread has brought back memories from our first baby Juno more than seven years ago. If there is any consolation for your broken heart, please know you did everything humanly possible for your beautiful and bright little friend. We had a necropsy performed on Juno and it turned out he had an illness and there was nothing on earth anyone could have done to save him. It wasn't the cold in your home, you didn't fail him. He had a lifetime of love with you as his papa. Hold your sweet memories dear and the hardship of your loss will get easier to bear. Take your time to be kind to yourself. I am so sorry for your pain.
Od94
Good morning guys! All your comments and messages really help.. I can't thank you enough! I'm feeling a bit better than the previous couple of days but still.. thanks again! <3 i hope that you won't face any similar situation with any of your parrots have a great dayyy Alvin was my first grey,i have a cockatiel and i love her more than anything, but they are really far to be like greys in personality.. Greys are amazing.. I am planning for sure to try again a grey, but not for the moment...As also i am trying to find a healthy one to do the handfeeding, and without facing problems with it..and since I live in Lebanon only wild caught are available and 90% of them don't live.. some will die few weeks during the handfeeding and others like mine, they hide their illness very well and there is no avian vet to make a full checkup before it's too late.. Anyway I may be thinking of getting a couple of greys and try to breed them. That way, i will keep one for me,and for the others will give them to people who really know the values of these birds, maybe i can reduce a tiny fraction of the wild caught ones.. I tried to make local importers to order for me a farm raised one, they are so expensive and they won't take the risk to get them.. Inara
You and Alvin were in my thoughts this morning. I hope that you will not be a stranger to our little online flock here, and that your future visits will bring us good news about your quest for a new companion or companions and your dedication to reducing the purchase of wild caught birds. With warmth and best wishes to you.

I am still into the project of breeding them, for the love of them,to get one healthy handfed for me,and to reduce the impact on the wild ones... I will surely keep you posted as I will also need your help for sure! I have been reading lots of articles to know more about them.. I will post a thread soon, hopefully I will be able to be in contact with some breeders for few questions..I am hoping I will be able to succeed
