kins2321@yahoo.com
I have moved up Ollies dental surgery to next Tuesday. He is seriously not eating! He remains happy and active, but is only taking in less then 700 calories a day. Ryan is ready to come and get Sophie, so that I can focus on Ollie. I havent decided to have Ryan come for Sophie. I want what is best for her, but not sure Ryes enviroment is best. I am not liking my choices Nancy
neoow
Sorry to hear Ollie is not doing well. I hope the dental surgery goes ok! Does Sophie have to go with Ryan? I saw in another post somewhere that you were thinking of letting Ryan have Sophie (unless I read it wrong). Is there a reason why you think this would be a better option than Sophie staying with you? Sorry if I'm prying- was just curious!
Acappella
I'm sorry that Olie isn't well. I do know several people with small dogs who have had to have dental surgery to remove teeth so maybe it's a common surgery? I know any time they put an older dog under anesthesia it's serious and that you'll worry about your baby and I admire your commitment to taking care of him but I don't think you'd have to disrupt Sophie's whole world. She may not get as much attention from you as usual for awhile but these birds are smart, Sophie especially. She'll see that a member of her flock is sick. They're also a lot more resilient than we give them credit for. When I was taking care of my dad, and then in an estate dispute with my brother which was very upsetting, I worried about Dorian getting less attention from me and seeing me upset, but honestly, he just rolled with it. I really believe Sophie will be ok, and I know you would give her all the time you could. I think you and Sophie have many years together yet to come. Greywings
They are much tougher than we give them credit for, the see our stress and I think they usually understand when they have to step back a bit. Life is not always extremes it just feels like it from time to time. You mentioned that she like Ryan so it may just be a fun visit for her. kins2321@yahoo.com
She LOVES Ryan. The problem is... Sophie has been " over socialized", with other pets and humans. Its only Ollie and Sophie left. If.... I lose Ollie, I have no plans for another dog. I don't want to out live them. I am gone sometimes 14 hours at work. Sophie would never tolerate that " alone time". Ryans dog Callie has already been socialized with Sophie and they get a long great! It would be the BEST scenario for Sophie. It would be extremely hard for me.... but it is what is best for Sophie's needs. Ryan understands the sacrifice for me. One of the hardest things I have ever done. Its not about me. We have been texting at least twice a day. Ollie's dental surgery Tuesday, and we will see. Nancy
