Hi guys thanks for the welcome.

@Acappella She is not really my bird she belongs to my girlfriend but ever since we moved in together i have grown very attached to nonesense. She is 10 years old this week, which i found out from my girlfriend yesterday, unfortunately she does not know the exact date.

You can read the full story here: http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?202919-Help-required-with-partially-aggressive-bird

Thanks

I meant to mention on my other post, I wouldn't call her "aggressive" from what you have described. She is a prey animal and bites mainly from fear. Even after 4 years, I cannot get Timber to step up from inside the cage. That is his safe zone, and he controls what happens in the space. He will bite if I try to get a step up from inside the cage, but hardly ever does (now) when outside the cage.

My Dorian was completely cage bound when I brought him home. It took literally years for him before that first time he poked his head outside his cage. That's month after month of me sitting by his cage feeding him treats, reading to him, sitting on the floor in front of his cage, building and playing with toys and doing everything I could to make the world outside his cage look fun and exciting. It was another several months before the first time he stepped up for me, years before he would step up from inside the cage. Sometimes it felt like it would never happen, but I could always come here to vent my frustration and heartbreak. Just remember, they're not like dogs where training happens fast and you only have 12-15 years with them. You can invest years here because you have decades yet with your bird. Bless you for wanting to expand nonesense's world. It's worth whatever time it takes. My heart still soars a little every time Dorian lifts his little foot for me, knowing what it cost him to get to this point. I know you can do this.

p.s. I do believe finding his toy kryptonite, which is shredded paper and thin cardboard, and then building toys in front of his cage made of those materials, was key in getting him to come out. Try toys with rolls of adding machine tape, cardboard, bells. You can get other toy ideas in the toy room here.

I think in all the forums i have ever registered in this has got to be the most welcoming and most informative one yet. Its overwhelming the replies and information i received and you guys are all just awesome.

I am going to leave this thread as a welcome thread so all replies will be posted in my other thread linked above as to keep all the information in one thread.

@Greywings - according to my girlfriend, as a baby nonesense would always climb up her cage and swing on her perch and make noise. She would also throw any food she didnt like out her cage and generally make alot of nonesense. So my girlfriend just called her that lol.

@judygram - Here are a few pics
