We really don't know much about him/her. through a friend they told us about an older woman who lost her husband and had an African grey that she was unable to properly care for. the bird never got much attention (which we know how much greys love). All we know is they had it for about 2 yrs. the wife didn't know the name, sex or age. So we are going to take it to a very good avian vet to have it looked at. We have named him/her Bunchy. Bunch seems a bit on the thin side and a bit small so we think he might be on the young side. 24 hrs into him being with us, he seems to be adjusting pretty well. getting to know his new cage (he had been in a very small and dirty cage. so sad) he now has a brand new correct size big new home. We are happy to hear from our new friends here about anything to help Bunchy transition to his new home and family. We will always give him the love he needs forever, there is no doubt about that!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Bunchy and welcome to our family.

Thank you so much for giving Bunch a new forever home. Just give him lots of attention, allow him some out of cage time and that avian vet visit will let you know if he is healthy or not, he might just need the proper foods. You will find lots of threads here that deal with exactly what you are going thru so be sure to check as many of them out as you can but it looks like you are well on the way to establishing a wonderful relationship with your new family member. Time and lots of patience will be your best friends as you earn his trust and develop that bond. Pictures are always welcomed.

Very excited about getting to know Bunchy. First R E L A X! Greys are very observant. Bunchy will watch your every move and note it in his memory. Greys love routine so set a routine with Bunchy that you can live with so he will not be confused about "what the heck is going on". Relax and enjoy, life is going to be oodles of fun if you just let it. Welcome to the Grey Family!

Thank Y ou all for the great info!!! As soon as We get used to the forum here we will post photos of our Bunchy. Eventually we will move to get Bunchy to feel comfortable with us being able to slowly handle him. We know this takes time and patience. Any tips on this? He seems to be adjusting great to his new home!! We know it's only been days , amazingly he is very calm and loving. So far so good!!
