Jadiradi
I have been waiting patiently to bring home my baby. I get him in a week and I can't believe it. I've waited THREE long months for this day. I have done SO much research and I still don't feel prepared. I have had other birds, but this is my first CAG. I just need tips on what to do when I first bring him in my home. He will be 15 weeks when I bring him home, he will have an hour and a half long car ride to our home, poor baby will already be freaked out by the time we get home. I can't wait! If he is comfortable with me should I continue to hold him and show him the house? If he isn't should I just put him on/in his cage? I know my to force myself. I'm just anxious and nervous and excited. He will be so much different then my macaw and conures.
Timbersmom
Hello, welcome and congratulations! I'm a rehomer so don't have baby experience. I'll leave your questions for someone who really knows from experience...
neoow
Hello and welcome to the forums! Congratulations on your baby grey! Personally I'd let him get settled into his cage and surroundings first before showing him the rest of the house. He'll need a little time to explore the inside of the cage and get used to everything around him. I'd then take it a room at a time rather than showing the whole house all at the same time. kins2321@yahoo.com
After that long ride...open the travel cage in front of his new cage, let baby come out on his own. NOOO exposure to other rooms. Thats a few weeks away. Nancy
