alex_yangers Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Hi all. I am a Congo African Grey owner (named Woodstock) of 10 years. I joined this forum to hopefully identify an abnormal issue with his feathers. He has been healthy and never plucked any feathers and I have never seen a molt that looked like this, so there is concern. His diet and environment is unchanged. His behavior is unchanged as well -- he is mobile and still very talkative. If anyone can identify based from the foto?
kins2321@yahoo.com Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I would be concerned! It can happen at anytime with a grey. Maybe others with better experience can help. Nancy
Luvparrots Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Hey Alex, perhaps Woodstock has a skin irritation. Do you spray him with Aloe Juice? There is oodles of information in the Health Room about Aloe Juice. Give it a look see. Welcome to the Grey family!
neoow Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Hello and welcome! Sorry to hear you're having problems with Woodstock (LOVE the name!). I'm sorry I can't be of any help with that but I'm sure others will be able to chime in with some ideas.
Acappella Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 It does look like plucking to me, be don't automatically assume the reason is mental. There are physical reasons a bird may start plucking. I would start with a visit to an avian vet for a full exam to rule them out first. In th meantime is there a change to the flock? Have schedules or people changed? Has the cage or something around the cage moved?
