SullysMom
I put together some clips of Sully talking that I thought I'd share. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_DFfnDMIz8&feature=youtu.be

neoow
Sully is a right chatterbox! Amazing! Alfie goes camera shy whenever I get my phone out. I have to secretly record him if I want to hear him chattering away to himself!
SRSeedBurners
Wow - what a talker. All you with talking Greys make me jealous. I have to ask, is Sully flighted and if so does he fly much? The only time Greycie will go through her tiny repertoire of mostly noises is when she is confined to a cage or her birdroom. Otherwise it's no talking just screeching or other CAG noises. My theory is the more 'confined' they are the more they'll talk. Just a hunch though.

He's in the process of growing his flight feathers, so right now he normally he will walk around lol He goes up and down the stairs like it's nobody's business if he's left alone! lol
Timbersmom
Sterling, Timber is most likely to talk when alone. Whether he is in his cage or not, he will chatter when I'm gone (spycam) or if I am in another room or upstairs. Since I talk to him when I'm in the room and often to hubby or others in his presence, I wonder if he is self-comforting when alone? Since his flock speaks in words does he talk to mimic having the flock around him? It's a puzzle.
SRSeedBurners
My guess is they talk to deal with boredom or confinement or lack of ability to get around. My Grey has to deal with none of those things and rarely talks. Mostly Grey noises and the occasional fart or kookaburra. What led me to think this was when I was building the aviary. I had her confined to her little feeding cage outdoors with me for several days and she started talking but soon quit when she didn't have to deal that any longer. We can make her talk by locking her in the birdroom by herself for an extended amount of time. I don't think she's 'bashful', I just think she's dealing with being alone and bored. chezron
Brutus talks when he is happy. He usually has a couple of times a day where he will sit and just spill out all of the stuff he knows. When he is content and when my husband and I were together he talked SO MUCH! Sometimes all day-nonstop! Lately, he talks periodically. When he gets daily sunshine and a bath outside he tends to be very content and much more talkative. Also, if I am happy he talks more. Normally, he just says the stuff that he has been saying lately, but when he is really happy, I hear stuff from several years back. I think I like that as much for the fact that it shows he is exceptionally happy as I do that I get to hear all his repertoire. He intersperses the talking with a few "connector" noises that change from month-to-month. The connector noise i hear all day long. If I ask him if it is okay to pet his head and he gives me the "noise du jour" I know I have his permission.
chezron
It always strikes me when I see videos of other greys how much more energetic they are than Brutus. He is just a couch potato most of the time. I call him and he flies to me in whatever part of the house I am in, but otherwise he is never frantic or moving fast. We hang out most of the time. I worry that maybe he is not okay health-wise, but i think it is really just his personality. He is not twitchy or fast--ever. Timbersmom
Timber has many more periods of inactivity, just hanging around, than he does of activity. I assume it is normal (for him anyway). I suppose greys have temperaments like people in that some are more active and some less so? He will have bursts of activity, attacking a toy, hanging from the top of his cage and flapping for all he his worth etc., but most of the time he is chilling.
