jimmycoop2005 Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Well I will my deposit on this lovely fellow tomorrow, he is a sexed male, he is just weaned and is a little of 4 months old. I should pick him up in a couple of weeks.
danmcq Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Thats great news Jimmy!! I am so happy for you :-)
judygram Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Very nice looking grey, Jimmy, I am glad you finally got one, and I think you got a little red factor going on there too, look on the underside around his legs, congrats, that is special indeed. Did you know that when you purchased him, that he has some red factor feathers in him?
Lusya Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 The baby is so cute! I am in love with all Greys! Congratulations!!

I will see him probably next week when I go down and pay him off. Thanks for all the comments everyone.
MakenasDad Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Very nice pictures!! That's actually how we saw Makena for the first time (pictures,) he was still very young when we picked him up. I'm sure you'll fall in love with him (if you haven't already) when you see him for the first time - Congrats & keep us updated!
Guest briansmum Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 he's so sweet, i love the red factor! congrats on your new baby
jimmycoop2005 Posted November 9, 2007 Author Posted November 9, 2007 I'm confused why do you keep saying red factor?
harley Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Congrats on your new baby he is beautiful. They are a great asset to your life. I think the red factor they are talking about around his legs??
Guest briansmum Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 jimmy, if you look at the pictures he has a slight hint of red on his lower breast near his legs. this is whats known as "red factor" when greys get red feathers where there should be none. there isnt much information about it, but check out the pictures at the bottom of this page: http://www.avianweb.com/africangreyspecies.html also if you search red factor in the forum some good stuff will pop up. it isn't a bad thing, it's special
jimmycoop2005 Posted November 9, 2007 Author Posted November 9, 2007 He is still a congo though right?
judygram Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Yes he is, and he is special because he has some red feathers, although he might not keep them, sometimes when they go thru a molt they might lose them or maybe more will crop up. There is nothing wrong with them.
jimmycoop2005 Posted November 9, 2007 Author Posted November 9, 2007 shew I couldn't find anything on google after you told me that. I know there is another bird just called "red factor" so I was worried. Thank you so much for explaining it. The search on the forum helped a lot. Thanks can't wait to bring him home. leaning toward the name of Rocko or Peanut right now
judygram Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Well keep us informed and either of those names are great.
