Java Tree

Just got a Java tree for Alex and Rocco. They freaked out when I brought it into the room, I'll just let them get used to it at their own pace.

I recently picked one up for our new baby miligold Macaw. He loves to be perched there, and he won't budge from it for hours.

That is a beauty! Maybe moving one or two of their familiar toys to the branch would help them accept it sooner.

I have the same tree! They LOVE it! A pain in the butt to clean their poop, but that just means they love it Nancy

I was going to get some vinyl tile and fit in onto the base without gluing it to make it easier to clean

UMMMMM.... So, just as a great suggestion, go to Walmart, get " painters plastic". Place it by 10 by 10 under the tree. They are very messy! My birds have their own room, and I never close their cages. Having " open cage concept", has been alot of work, but I am an expert now. Nancy

I love these trees but I have found the more I tried to rig them to be less messy, the more messy they looked and were. lol I do not get why with all the trees they make, not a one completely catches the poop. There is always one branch that hangs over the base and that is where they migrate too. I have done the plastic, I have used the painters paper and put clips on the edges to keep the paper from flying around, I have one that we put the peel and stick tile on but the best thing I can do is to let them be and get my scraper and broom and clean up when they go to bed. lol

I have one and have lots of boings twisted and hung all over it. I am hoping to get another one in the near future to put in my outdoor bird room....hoping to find a Craigslist one cheaper!

Inara.... put the plastic under the tree, cover with strips of plastic over the base. In the summer, easy to clean outside, but winter is tough! Nancy

Just another suggestion for the base to help with clean up, outdoor carpeting cut to fit into the base with a single slit cut on one side to get it around the trunk. I bought a tree stand off craigslist that have 2 of these in the base. I can take it outside and spray it off since its plastic it can also be sprayed with a weak bleach solution to disinfect it.

I put a perch on the outside of Alex's cage and his curiosity finally got the best of him as he climbed from the perch to check out the new jave tree.
