Breezy2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Well, I have been reading all over the forum about readers african greys who just HATE baths but I think I lucked out. Breezy seems to actually enjoy being sprayed. Breezy is a timneh and in one of my books on african greys it did say the timnehs are from an area of africa that gets quite a bit of rainfall. So maybe it is more common for the timnehs to like water and bathing. Anyways, it is more an observation than anything, just really happy he doesnt hate being bathed as I am well aware of how important bathing is for greys.
Luvparrots Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I think it is how well the bathing is introduced that helps a grey with his bathing. My TAG loves a bath and so does my CAG, they love to sit on the top of their cages and open their wings and get totally soaked. Congratulations in introducing bathing in a positive way to your grey. Hooray!!!
Breezy2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Author Posted December 31, 2013 I spray over their heads with a fine mist so it is droplets falling down on them like rain. It takes longer getting them wet but every bird I have sprayed that way likes it. Then I start at their feet and work up staying away from their face to get the front.
Ray P Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Corky loves her bath on her terms. We have a large hanging bath tub in her cage all the time so when she is ready it`s there.
Breezy2013 Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 I did try a bath with Breezy and oddly enough he seemed to prefer the shower or going in the shower with me better. They are sure all unique and different.
Timbersmom Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Timber, also a TAG loves to be sprayed. He doesn't open his feathers for spraying though. He only takes a full bath, on his terms, every few weeks.
Breezy2013 Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 Breezy is going to need more baths soon. Noticed the powder down seems to be coming in on his feathers a little. Not too bad but I wonder if that makes him itchy?
judygram Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 My grey Josey only tolerates showers but she will try bathing in her water dish.
Breezy2013 Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 Breezy bathes and splashes in his dish, too. But he doesnt like a big dish of water for a bath. Strange.
Breezy2013 Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 Breezy seemed just a tad dusty today so he got a nice mist bath just now and he is on his stand talking and drying off. I am beginning to think Greys can somehow get into our train of thought because I was just posting on another thread saying he hasnt talked yet today and he is over next to me talking away and making some entertaining little noises. Greys are so funny! He loved his bath just like the other day and the dustiness is gone. Think he is a bit more comfortable as well.
kins2321@yahoo.com Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Sophie has no interest in a spray or bath. Smart as a whip-... cant trick her. She will see our other birds get a shower and is happy for them. She watches from the bathroom, gets excited they are having fun. Noway is she participating! Nancy
