Parrot Lady
A friend told me to try it on Smokey , Smokey went to vet today to get his nails done and my vet said I should slow down on the aloe gel baths , he mentioned giving 2 plain showers a week and 1 aloe bath per week , he thinks aloe in any form put s a resadue on the bird and sometimes that keeps the birds plucking , depending on the bird and he definitely disagree's with bird wearing collars unless it's an extreme case , I just ordered another bottle of aloe gel looks like this bottle will last a long time , I might give this Earths Balance a try but not until I run out of aloe gel , maybeeeeeeeeeeee not sure , I have already tried about 5 different products with no success so whats next I have no idea , I just keep trying or maybe I will pic up some aloe juice from walmarts and keep the gel for emergencies , they have it on sale now for about 7 dollars I'am going to order a clicker trainer set and a few interactive toys for me and the birds to work on , I figure I can keep them all busy especially Smokey
lovethatgrey
I truly believe and feel that our parrots don't need anything except plain water. Just water. No sprays or gels, lotions or what ever of any kind. When the air is dry like in the winter or like in certain geographical locations, some humidity. Just water. Save your hard earned money. Timbersmom
I'm not sure about aloe gel. Everything I've seen says to use the liquid to spray. What are you doing with the gel? I'm confused, sorry.
Parrot Lady
I mix 2 Tablespoons of Gel with really warm water and mix it up real good , I have a little left but dummy me just ordered another bottle , I think I will leave that one alone for now and try this other product , the lady that runs chopper toys swears by this product and it does not leave any kind of residue on the bird , also humans can use this for small cuts or burns
Timbersmom
I haven't read anything about aloe leaving a residue, but I tend to follow my vet's advice.
carolz7
I just got Soother topical spray from my vet and it seems to be helping a lot. Sometimes just plain water is not enough, especially when there is a problem, like feather picking. I do believe the new growth makes then itchy and uncomfortable to the point where they will re-pluck all the new feathers. I have been trying this for a while now, am on my second bottle and so far so good. I even just added it to my website if anyone would like to give it a try. The only thing i have noticed is you have to do it every day. Dont stop halp way threw. It is safe and my avian vet swears by it.
