So, Radar, a CAG age 9 months, has started hanging upside down on almost everything by one foot and doing "chin-ups" to ring his bell. He even groomed his feathers while hanging upside down this afternoon. He has fallen a few times and broken a few red feathers, but continues to do it. He is also exploring more by hopping form his cage onto nearby furniture or a laundry hamper.

The upside down behavior seems so bizarre to me, especially because he does it a lot. Is that normal?

Oh, and forgot to mention, he recently learned to make sounds like a monkey. He does it almost continuously, even while hanging upside down. I have always called my kids flying monkeys, but he takes that meaning to a whole new level!

They love to hang upside down, they resemble bats that way, mine occasionally will latch onto the side and get herself into a twisted position that looks like it would hurt but obviously it doesn't or she wouldn't do it, I would try to get a picture but as soon as she would see the camera she would be out of it. Sometimes she will be hanging by one foot and spinning, daredevils they think they are.

Only a mini clip. He still flies fairly well wherever he wants to go, which is usually either to find me or demand someone takes a shower so he can sing.

They LOVE to hang upside down! LOL! They do sometimes get themselves in a position that requires intervention. You know your baby loves and trusts when they drop into your hand and lands on their back and HATES that position! Sophie can't stand to be on her back but she will drop in a heartbeat. Nancy

I'm pretty sure Alfie spends half his time hanging upside down on his various toys. He has a great time swinging around and bashing other toys.
